There's a lot of rich people out here, but this seems ridiculous (see pic)

The sales manager said they had another GWE and it sold for $15k over sticker,so this time the management said "What the heck, let's try $20k"

Hey, at least there's no destination charge

That's just crazy. Personally, I would never pay dealer mark up. They wouldn't budge off of MSRP on my SRT8 but I would have walked if there was mark up on it. There's a GWE at the same dealership that I was looking at today. The MSRP is a little less than mine was... anybody in San Diego looking for one that badly could sure save some $ making the drive up to the OC. Although I'm sure there are some closer with no mark up either.

As they say in real estate, it's worth what someone will pay. Dealers have tried this before and a year later, they still have the car on the lot and end up selling it for 20% below MSRP. It's a risk. Maybe they'll sell it to some uneducated buyer for that. Maybe they'll knock off a few grand and tell the customer what a great discount they're getting. Maybe they'll be trying to get rid of it a year from now for $37K. If it's me, I'm gonna get the best buy I can, drive some distance, have it trucked to me, whatever.

California dealers seem to love to mark their cars up. A local dealer I visited has all V6 Chargers and Challengers marked up $2,000, all "regular" R/T Chargers and Challengers marked up $5,000, "regular" SRT Challengers and a GWE R/T marked up $10,000, and the GWE and IE SRT marked up $20,000. Other dealers I've seen are almost as bad. I guess some poor sap thinks he's getting a good deal if he gets part of the mark-up knocked off. Personally, I wouldn't pay over invoice for a Challenger.

I looked at a lot of challengers at a lot of dealers in Orange County and did not once see mark up, although the dealer I finally purchased from claimed to be "The only one around not adding mark up." I just can't believe there are dealers doing this and people paying it.
