Do you think we should start a sticky with dealers by State that are charging outrageous mark-up over MSRP on the HellCat Challenger? That would give board readers great information for which dealers not to even visit when they want to buy other Dodge or Jeep products down the line. It shows the character of the dealership.
Can we list them without reprisal? Or, should we just list the more positive experience and name dealers that were accommodating. For Hellcat now it looks like MSRP at best. In the future I expect that to change, but the positive dealers I would expect to also change positively while the negative dealers I would expect would continue to attempt to price gauge customers.
Building the car on the Dodge site even though I now know I will not even attempt to purchase a Hellcat for myself until six months to nine months from now has lead to interesting conversations between Dodge dealers and myself. I'll give you one example yesterday that happened to me.
I get a call. This is the internet sales manager from XXXXXXXX Dodge dealer in NJ. I want to check on your inquiry. I mention that I am interested in a specific build for a Hellcat Challenger. She says let me call you back on that because we have a Hellcat here (I know there are not any within 250 miles of me right now). I say I want a specific color and model. It seems to bypass her. She calls me back 10 minutes later. Yes, we are getting a Hellcat in. I do not know what color or transmission it will have. I need a 10K deposit if you are interested. I ask what the price is just for amusement. The internet gal tells me price is 20K above MSRP. I just laugh and tell her to call me back when the price is 1% below invoice or better. I could name the dealer and we all could name dealers like that if it makes sense for a future sticky. We could call it Dodge Dealers of Shame!
