I have a 2009 STR8. The motor (and everything else) has been completely redone with a top end build by Petty’s Garage. She dyno tested 668RWHP and roughly 800HP at the crank. Respectable numbers; or so I thought until I took my car out to a half mile top speed shoot-out. I was red lining 4th gear unable to break 140mph. Embarrassing to say the least. I looked like I was standing still, even compared to other Challenger Demons. Granted I was not running drag radials, but even my Continental DW Extreme Contacts had decent traction with 315s in the rear!

The bottom line is, I should be going way faster, and I want more power! But if I go much higher, my fear is that I’ll break the danger zone of my factory power train components, drive shafts, half shafts, rear axles, etc. I don’t want to put any more money into this car as I already have (6 figures total already). Because my SC is my biggest limiting factor, I think I’m stuck with what I’ve got engine wise or I’d be throwing good money after bad paying to install a bigger super charger or stroking the engine requiring different pistons and rods. I’m not interested in either of these options. The only way I can think to go faster and increase power is additional power adders.

Here’s my question: Has anyone built an engine or have experience utilizing multiple power adders? I’m interested in exploring a small (75 shot) Nitrous setup in combination with a water/methanol kit to offset the decreased timing requirement and to run safer.

From my research, NO2 and water/meth complement each other in theory at least. However, my concern is that tampering with my build to this extent is simply inviting disaster and more variables for things to go wrong. Any advice or recommendations I’d greatly appreciate. Lastly, I bought a Snow Performance water meth kit, but never installed it based on Petty’s Garage recommendation. They said they tried installing one and had nothing but problems getting it to run properly.

My build: Arrington Engineering CNC ported heads and custom ground cam with a Magnuson 2.3L root supercharger pushing approximately 10-12 lbs of boost. It also has CAI, a 90mm throttle body, drop in forged pistons and rods (make unk), Kooks long tube headers with 3 inch exhaust system w/no cats. Diablo trinity w/custom tune on 93 pump gas.

You are already well established in the “danger zone” for breaking other parts”. Are you saying the car hit the half mile mark in 4th gear at 140mph and red lines simultaneously? Are you a 6 speed or an A5.
Remember that peak horsepower is not the end goal but rather hp/torque throughout the range.
Presuming your hp/torque curve are not way out of wack your issue is not a lack of hp but something else. Stock hellcats are around 145-155mph in a quick review of times. Your car has 90hp more then a hellcat.

When was the build done? New Arrington’s or old Arrington’s?
