I know there has been quite a few people including myself that have been trying to figure out how to get rid of what might be the most annoying door ajar chime on any car in history.
Now it's quite possible someone already figured it out and I'm just late to the party but if that's not the case and there are still a lot of you wanting to do this, you are in luck!
Unfortunately I have no time to explain the process right now but please respond here in this thread if this is something you would be interested in and when I get the time (sometime tonight) I will lay it all out for you.
I for one am ecstatic that I will never have to hear that DING DING DING DING DING DING DING f**king DING!!!!! Again!

I do not know if it is in here, but if it can be done, here's the place to look.

I have been wanting to do this, the only way I know is to open the door and trip the latch so the door thinks its shut... I hope you have a better way.

I found this awhile back (see attachment). I haven't tried it. I may have got this from tips and tricks. I would like to know if there is anyway to disable the passenger seatbelt chime?

Ok first of all I am not talking about the seatbelt chime. Amazingly that is a very easy fix! I am talking about the annoying fuggin chime that relentlessly goes off when either door is open and you push the start button to be able to listen to the radio or whatever else you wanna do that requires power. I'm assuming if you have a key rather than the push button start it acts similarly. The chime probably doesn't bother a lot of people but it drives me absolutely nuts!

Alright there are actually two ways (that I know of) to accomplish this. The first and probably better way to do it is too complicated and risky for most to want to attempt it. It entails messing with circuit boards in the gauge cluster. I'm going to cover the second much simpler way to do it. Of course since it is actually very simple there has to be secondary side effects of the mod. Some in my opinion are actually benefits, others not so much.
The whole idea is to trick the car into thinking that the door is actually closed when in fact it is open. While this is great for avoiding that goddamn chime you also have to remember that there are other reasons your car needs to know when the door is open. To shut off your stereo, turn on the dome light, cut power to the windows, etc. There is a very simple fix to this scenario as well though. A basic momentary push button switch say installed below the trunk pop switch could theoretically trick the car into thinking the door was opened momentarily so all these other little things are taken care of. In this scenario you will actually have power to your windows even after you open your door (or your passenger opens there's when you are in the middle of rolling your window up) I know that has to have happened to most of you!:SM130: So until you hit the momentary switch you will still be able to manipulate the windows, doors open or closed! That in my opinion is a big plus.
I have a 2013 R/T Classic so when referencing wire colors and locations keep that in mind but I imagine there are very little if any differences here across years and models.
Ok the wire that tells the car the status of the door is a very small gauge violet wire that terminates at the door latch in each door. It is much easier though to pick up this wire right after it passes through the loom between the door and the rest of the car. Just remove the kick panel to gain access to the bundle of wires exiting the loom.
So once you find the small solid violet wire you simply cut it and install your momentary switch between to two sides of the cut wire. I would also recommend cutting the wire on the passenger side (it is the same color) but in that case obviously no switch is necessary.
I expect a fair amount of flaming for what I'm sure many of you will call a half assed hack job etc. etc. But that's cool I can handle it. Bottom line is many have asked how this can be accomplished and no one has offered a solution so I thought I may as well throw it out there.
If you think it's a bad idea don't do it. I hope this helps at least a couple of you that are as irritated by that god awful sound as I am. If anyone has any questions I will be happy to answer any of them that I can. I guess that's about it for now. Take care everyone and be careful......

Well this is the best idea I have heard yet, the chime is annoying and it sucks to NOT be able to have your radio on with the door open while cleaning etc... Plus tripping the latch is scary because I am worried the door will get slammed shut with the latch in the wrong position!

I mainly hate how frantic the challenger chime sounds.
Every time I hear it it makes me feel like I've just done something terribly wrong and I have to haul ass and do whatever it takes to shut it up before the car explodes or something.
That's literally how the thing makes me feel!
All other cars that I know of do the full on chime when in the ACC position but when you turn the key one more click (or push the button one more time) to the start position (without actually starting the car) it chimes 3 or 4 more times and then stops. Not the Challenger. I honestly think the thing would continue screaming at you until the freaking battery died. Obviously haven't tested this but I bet I'm right.

An alternative to the method I outlined above would be to just use a normal push on/off switch rather than the momentary one. That way whenever you don't want the door chime you just push in the button and any other time everything works as normal.
Just a thought.
