This morning at the Brampton Assembly Plant in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, the very first 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon rolled off of the assembly line – officially starting the production of the quickest and most powerful road-going American muscle car ever.
While there has not been any official word from FCA on the launch of 2018 Demon production, a few clues surfaced last week.
First, some of the people who ordered one of the 840 horsepower Dodge Challengers received new information on their car, such as the serial number and the expect date of delivery. In fact, one buyer (who I have met in person and believe) was told that his Demon could arrive before the end of this month, suggesting that production was due to begin soon.
Second, a few of the folks who work at the Brampton Assembly Plant posted images online of a t-shirt that reads “Brampton Assembly Plant – Home of the Demon”.
Third, what appears to be an email bulletin of some sort circulated around the internet this weekend with the following message: The first Demon is scheduled to be built on Monday, Sept 11th. Please don’t forget to wear your Demon T-Shirt.
That bulletin included an image of the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon doing a burnout and the unique passenger side HVAC vent with serial number 0001.
Finally, images have surfaced online showing the workers from Brampton in their Demon shirts gathered around a B5 Blue Dodge Challenger SRT Demon (similar to the one above) has traveled quickly around social media today, confirming that the Canadian facility has begun building the 840 horsepower, 9-second Mopar muscle car. Update: An unnamed source has told Allpar that the B5 Blue Demon in the image going around the internet was a pre-production model, not the first for-sale unit as was initially reported. However, that same source confirmed that the actual first 2018 Demon will roll off of the assembly line later today.
So, production of the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon has begun and based on buyer reports, some people could get their cars before the end of September. As soon as those cars start reaching buyers, we will be sure to bring you that news as well.
Live 1.5 hours from the Brampton Plant. Was in the Brampton area and stopped for a quick view into the yard from a-top the berm that surrounds the plant where you can see the cars rolling off the line and into the staging yard for shipping. Saw a couple Demons roll out which appeared to be Octane Red and F8 Green but it was late in the day with low light. Would have taken some pics but forgot my iPnone in the car. However I will be going back that way in a week or so and will make another stop to see what is hanging in the yard or rolling off the line. All I have is pics from a stop at the plant a couple or so years ago.
