I am planning to buy a Dodge challenger SRT 392 or 392 ScatPack with Shaker.
Can anyone tell me the difference between SRT 392 6.4L HEMI V8 - 23K package and SRT 392 6.4L HEMI V8 - 24K package
Also can you tell me which one will be better in terms of performance.
Parameters:
1. 0-60 fastest.
2. Shares same exhaust as HellCat.
I want something exact similar to hell cat, without the supercharger and 707 HP. Can anyone suggest me anything please.
Any kind of information is highly appreciated.:grin2::fight:
If you want the same as the Hellcat, without the Supercharger, than go with the SRT. The scat pak is an RT trim level with a 392 engine. The SRT model upgrades the suspension and brakes to nearly the same as the 'Cat, plus some aerodynamic improvements over the Scat.
As for 23k vs 24k?
The A8 (24k) gives you 2 overdrive gears, and theoretical better acceleration due to a shorter first gear. It also enables the use of MDS to save fuel and Adaptive Cruise control. My SRT is the A8 and I love both of those features. It's my daily driver, so its nice to save fuel when I don't feel like driving hard.
Thank you so much for your elaborative description. The car would be for my daily driving . so I was thinking of not going for hellcat. Occasionally on weekends , and on roads, I would play with it. And for that 392 would be a good option. Is it true that Hell Cat would be a pain for daily driving???? Also is it true that 392 might come up with additional 15 HP increase for 2017 models?
No reason for the hell cat to be a "painful" daily driver unless you only accelerate at full throttle
Every time you hit the gas. The automatic transmission is the faster accelerating car in a straight
Line (drag strip). The 6 speed has a slightly higher top speed and was the better choice for a road course (I am not sure that holds true now with the 8 speed automatic that came out in 2015).
I have not seen anything about a 2017 hp bump. They did a 15hp increase for 2015. Chrysler had initially tuned the 6.4 for 500hp according to articles when the 6.4 was first introduced but found the torque/hp curve was better (and car faster accelerating) when adjusted for slightly less peak hp.
The Hellcat is a great daily driver. A friend of mine daily drives his and it is very surprising how you can have all that power whenever you'd like and still be able to drive it to the grocery store and drop the kids off to school just like you're driving a 392 SRT. I wouldn't daily drive one if I were you though. To be completely honest, you couldn't go wrong with either an SRT or a Scat Pack. Just take your time in making up your mind to avoid having any regrets later on:thumbsup:
SRT is the closest thing to the 'Cat without being the 'Cat. It has the beefier brakes and magnetic suspension that the Scat Pack lacks. If you were going to load up a Scat Pack with the shaker and every other available option, price difference between Scat Pack and SRT shrinks to just a few thousand or less.
That said, one of the most impressive things about the Hellcat is how well-mannered it is when you're not flogging it. I wouldn't hesitate to daily-drive one, if cost was no issue. You can use the black key if you want to make sure you keep yourself out of trouble...
If all you're worried about with the cat is how it behaves in traffic or just regular driving I can say put those fears to rest. My cat is actually better in heavy traffic than my SRT 392 was. I have a manual and the gearing in the cat makes a world of difference with how smooth it is. If you really want a HC get it because once that plant is seeded it hard to get it to stop. I couldn't.
