Hey guys, I traded my 12 R/T Classic 6-speed for a 16 SRT 6-speed. Now, when I drive my SRT and step on the gas, even just driving normally, I get a whirring sound from the rear end. My R/T with stp did not do this. Honestly, the SRT sounds a lot like the Dana 60 with 4.10s in my 69 Charger. Is this normal for the SRTs?

There was a service campaign on some '16s that the dealer would inspect to check the parts tag (for production dates) on the driveshaft for some that would make whirring sounds

Models - 2015-2016 Challenger/Charger/300
Month/Day/Hour - built before October 15, 2015 (Challenger) or March 28, 2016 (Charger)
Noise - New TSB 6/24/16: Inspecting and replacing the propeller shaft due to a whining noise at high speeds
Part - current driveshaft part is 53010678AF and will be replaced with 53010

I remembered that I had posted this a while back:

Hmmmm, Yeah mine does this too. It's a 2015 Scat built around April, 2015. Is there any info that indicates that this is a condition that gets progressively worse, leading to driveshaft failure? I'll print the bulletin and contact my dealer. Thanks Hal.

Very easy - your sticker on your door will have the build date: MM:DD:HH and in another area MM/YY

I was fortunate - build 10/23 for mine; only needed the flash update for heated steering wheel [would shut off after 20 seconds after being turned on]

Mine was doing this in turns. It progressed to popping, especially during reverse turns it was very apparent then. My differential had to be replaced.
