Hey all, I have a 2018 Scat Pack with only 12k miles and I am experiencing a creaking of my driver seat. It seems that when I apply pressure on the top part of the seat where the headrest poles meet the seat, there is a creaking noise. Every time I accelerate or go over bumps I hear this noise and it is very annoying. I checked my passenger seat and it does not have the same behavior.

Has anyone experienced this before? Is it worth having the dealer take a look? I tried ignoring it but on such a new car I don’t think this should be happening, thanks!

I haven't had that yet but do have the same issue when applying pressure to the center of the back of the seat so everytime I accelerate I hear the same kind of noise. Mine is a 2019 GT might have to stop by the dealership since I got less then 1000 miles

Yeah, I may do the same when I get my oil change. It should not be doing that so early in the life of a car. Hopefully someone here has already taken their car in for this issue, I would be interested what the dealers did about it while still under warranty.

It is a strange thing I know the seat never made any noise when I first got it. Seemed to start recently. I don't have my seat lowered all the way. The sound seems to come from the lower lumbar support area possibly from the plastic shell on the back of the seat.

This is exactly what I think it is. It seems to be compression of the material right behind the outside layer that has this “creaking” noise. If I get out of the car and press on the seat, it only happens on the upper parts of the seat. Doesn’t seem to be an issue on the passenger side, and this just started happening around 10k miles. I tried adjusting my seat around but it doesn’t change the noise as my back is always resting on this spot

Hi bhxtyrant,
We're sorry to hear that you are also experiencing this. If you do decide to have your dealer address this, feel free to reach out to us via private message and we would be happy to add additional assistance!

Funny. I had the same thing in my 2016. I ignored it and it was gone like a year later. I figure it might have just smoothed itself out.

I had a car, forget which, it made annoying sounds near the headrest, then I finally figured it out. It was the seat belt itself, so anytime you moved to find the noise, you caused it. Very faint like a squeaky roller.

That was my original check but this noise really isn’t a squeak, it’s more of a creak. The best example is the sound of you sitting on an old leather couch. But thanks for the info!

my 2017 T/A plus does this sound as well. started around 12k miles. At 18k now. Has been into dealer for this a couple times. They checked for loose seat tracks, grease something. They could not figure it out except to say what was mentioned earlier about it being all the way down to "flick" the up button an it would go away for a while. My advisor made a note to Dodge about it as they have has a couple in for it as well. Supposed to go in for a oil change soon, Ill see if there is any update from them.

That's a bummer. A premium car should not have 'creaky' seat . My old Jeep did that for a while. I tried to find every little joint and spring wire connector on the bottom and back, I sprayed white lithium grease on the flex points. Yeah it was extreme, and was a mess.
I don't recommend doing that for your Challenger, my Jeep was 18 years old. It fixed it, though. I hate the creak. That's good Idea to re-adjust a bit to see if you can move out of the creak zone. Trying to think if there is any thing odorless you can use, on the flex points.
If I think of something i'll post it

On my 2015 I noticed a "click" feeling which seemed to come from the lumbar support during acceleration when it was fully extended. Drove me nuts. Now I drive with the lumbar support fully retracted and no clicks or noises.

Really ? Well, I'll say it's not a (bee)ing Kia, Nissan/Renault or Subaru! so I'd say its way more than basic.
😂

That's cute, dude. You keep (bee)living that.

I love my car to bits, but the only thing it has over those brands is the heritage and horsepower. It sure as soup* ain't premium.
