Hey guys,
Just saw on the TV show 'Two Guys Garage' a short clip about droneless mufflers called Dynomax VT. They sound pretty good to me - their technology seems really neat - full throttle acceleration allows a loud aggressive sound however with a constant foot on the throttle while cruising the drone is elimanated.

Anyone have experience with these?

You can see a good viedo here: Dynomax® Performance Exhaust | Mufflers | Dynomax VT™ Muffler

Thanks,
Richard

These mmufflers are very similar in function to the vacumn controlled mufflers on the Corvette Z06, and also Waldron's vacumn controlled dual path mufflers which are a reproduction of the optional "Tiger Exhaust" option on the old '70 GTO's. They are quite effective in eliminating drone. I have an acquantaince who is currently running these mufflers on a large tube header/3 inch exhaust equipped 462 inch Buick, and I can tell you these mufflers work very well. NO drone at cruise, with real attitude at WOT. I am seriously thinking about using these on my 6.1.

I just installed a set of VT's on my 69 Chevelle 600 hp 427 SB with 3 in ex w/X pipe dumped at front of axle.because of my rear suspension I can't run tail pipes and with this set up you get alot of drone/resonance bouncing between ground and underside of car. IMO the VTs work better than advertised. no drone at all any where in RPM range. sounds like a different car. sounds great at WOT. if it worked on my set up it should work on anything. hope this helps.

I thought about putting these on my car last month but dont like the spring idea that opens and closes the valve. Something about that doesnt seem right to me..
exhaust opens the valve, spring closes it. I believe there is a lifetime warranty on its operation. at 100.00 a piece even if it failed after a few years and I had to replace them, I think thats still cheap for how well they work. I've spent more on things that didn't last that long.

I can not believe I have not heard of them before - pretty excited about it.

I plan on deleting my resonators as well on my 2011 SE - would it still be as effective at stopping drone?

Yes I believe it would stop the drone completely. I have seen a lot of videos on youtube but none on a challenger. It stopped the drone on all of them. I just didnt want to take the plunge without someone trying it first...

Thanks for getting the jump on this thread. I saw the same thing on the Speed channel and am thinking if my flowmasters that I ordered dont work out with my silent Corsa Cat back sport system I to will order a set of these.

90 day sound guarantee. don't like them send them back.

have Mopar(Borla) catback on my Challenger and it has a little drone at times, I may try a set of VTs when time allows.

I bought the wrong mufflers. I got the ones for a stock system which are 2.5"inlet offset and 2.5" outlet offset. I have the Corsa sport now and it requires a 2.5 inlet offset and 2.5" outlet center.

I will try and sell these to somebody locally and have reorderd the correct ones.
I wonder how much the sound will change without removing the resonator?

I will post updates as soon as they are installed.

So you ordered the Dynomax VT?
I have the stock 2011 dual exhaust SE - So mine would be 2.5 Offset(in) and 2.5 Offset (out) it that right..

Thanks,

I bought the Flowmaster super 44 just prior to finding out about these Dynomax mufflers. I will go ahead and try the Flowmasters to see if they work without to much droan. I am waiting for correct ones to be delivered so I can have them installed. If the flowmasters dont work? I will order a pair of Dynomasters

I was looking to replace the stock muffler, So i picked one up this weekend . There is no interior drone anymore, but it is loud when you get on it. Not sure if I'm happy with it. Anyway here is a video:

by the way, that's my son driving, he's still trying to figure out the gas pedal:)

I just got the super 44 flowmasters installed. They had to weld the inlet side and they clamped the outlet side.

It now has a deeper sound and alot more muscle car sound when you get on it. I have not noticed any droan and the installer said I would not probably get any with the resonators still installed. I havent driven the highway yet but look foward to it. Bad weather here. No not snow! Just rain and windy. Dan:thumbsup:

At idle it has deeper sound with the same amount of noise as before.
At crusing I would same the same as well.
When you put your foot into it is louder with the deeper tone, buts its not ear smashing loud to me. I havent hit the highway yet for a longer drive.
I know the Corsa muffler sounded louder and better after a couple of weeks of driving. I am not sure if the flowmasters will do that to?

I know one thing for sure, i look foward to driving my car everyday!

So you left the reso's on - you will have no drone then - that is my prediction anyway.

So you so notice a big difference with them (even with the resonators still on)?

Sounds pretty good to me to be honest, still not sure which exhaust to put on mine yet.
