I'm very confident in my installer as I had previously taken a tour of his shop and at that time there were over eight high dollar cars staged including a Lamborghini. Some of them were complete and looked fantastic.

Did you also PPF wrap your front bumper/fascia and if so how did you address the vinyl graphic in front of the hood and the stripe points/tips in front of the fenders on the bumper ? ( I included a picture in the original post)

Great feedback and thank you!!
"eight high dollar cars staged including a Lamborghini"

The first time I visited my detail shop, they had over 2 million dollars in race/exotic/classic cars in their shop. And gave me a copy of their 5 million dollar insurance policy. Very comforting and confidence inspiring.

My front bumper has precut ppf and the matte decal has a custom xpel stealth piece. I'm at work, but I'll take a pic of it. The installer did a really good job
This is exactly what I was looking for and will use it as a discussion point when I drop it off at the my detailer next Tuesday.

Thank you so much for doing this and helping out a newbie!

Hello all. I thought I would share some initial pics from my baby’s trip to the detailer. In total she had PPF applied to the front end, hood, mirrors, door cups , full wheel flares and rockers. After this cured for several days she was given a ceramic coating and window tinting. I’m very pleased with the result as the wrapping challenges included cutting in a piece of matte film on the top of the bumper and cutting in around the hood stripes. My detailer did a phenomenal job.

I was lucky to get a window to get her home so I’ll be posting better pics once the weather improves.

Thanks to everyone for your feedback as it really got me thinking ( and probably overthinking) about the approach to this.

My T/A is about a month out. I just ordered a bunch of Beasley's stuff and have called a few ppf locations. I too have been quoted with a few different approaches. Fast Granny, did you end up removing and reinstalling new graphics across the front and sides stripes?

The best XPEL installer I've talked to wants to remove and install new graphics over the ppf, but is worried that I'll be unhappy with the front bumper decal not matching the hood. Did you cover that in a custom stealth piece? Is the color transition from that vinyl to the stealth covered hood smooth?

Did they use different ceramic coatings on the stealth portions than on the ultimate? Could you share who installed yours with me?

Thanks!

I went back and forth with the approach and ultimately decided to have my shop install around the graphics with the exception of the front bumper decal which was covered with the XPEL stealth product . My installer recommended covering this area since it can catch a lot of debris. XPEL stealth was also used on the hood so they match well.

The same ceramic product was a used on the paint and vinyl. Different ceramic products were used on the glass and plastic trim.

Here are a few pictures of the results…. Excuse the dirt as I haven’t had a window to give her a bath since picking it up.

I’m very pleased with the results!

I would like to commend you with all the information that came to light with this thread...and especially following through to the end.

When you think about....you pay about $50k for a 4k pound car...about $12.5/pound.

Than you pay $1k to $2k+ to have like 1 pound of material added to your car...$1k-$2k per pound for piece of mind. You think the automakers would want a piece of this action.

Great thread - just to be clear as I look into wrapping my own, you wrapped TO the side stripes, but not over top, correct?
That is correct. It's not easy to see even when you zoom the pictures I attached earlier. I think that's a positive and a testament to my installer.

Best of luck to you!

Hello all,

As I anxiously await delivery of my 2022 T/A scat pack , I’m digging thru posts for info regarding PPF wrapping for the front end/ bra. I am also considering having PPF applied to the wide body fenders as they appear to be vulnerable to debris.

Does anyone have experience/advice on how to approach the wrapping of the front end on this edition? The T/A package has a matte graphic on of the bumper in front of the matte hood with approximately two inches of paint in front of the graphic. I’m assuming there would be an undesirable shine if the standard PPF wrap carried over to the matte graphic….The options seem to be…

1.) run the wrap over the lip of the top bumper with the PPF edge falling just short of the graphic (and forego wrapping the graphic.) That leaves a vulnerable area of the front end exposed to debris/rocks.

2.) patch a piece of matte PPF of the graphic if possible.

Whatever option is recommended would also seem apply to the leading pieces of the matte side stripes since they are technically applied to the front bumper/fascia.

There is a LLUMAR dealer close to my Dodge dealer that I am considering as a vendor but wanted to hear from the community before I officially reach out to them to ensure are no “gotchas” to look out for.

I’m attaching a picture showing the areas I’m referencing

Now I’m sure some will be tempted to respond with smarty-pants remarks such as “change your order to the shaker package “ which coincidentally is what my husband said when I asked him about it. As I reminded him.....this is the package I want and this is my car…lol.

I hope I’m posting this in the correct category and thank you all in advance for any suggestions

Newbie Liz

...... I would NEVER put that on any of my cars! Yes, some people might have had good results, but in a few years when it's peeling and turning yellow and coming off and they can't do anything about it except get it redone again. Just keep it clean and waxed!!! And get the ZL1 mud flaps for the wide body. It's your car and your call but, hopefully you don't remember this message in a few years/months and be like damn it, he was 100% right... Good luck with your decision, no matter what it is! 👍😁....... Never mind and sorry about the post, I guess you already have it done and I am late reading the entire post. Best of luck with the film!!! 👍😁

Fantastic - so other than the stealth piece for the nose vinyl, was it a "stock" PPF install or were the pieces custom cut to fit each panel of the car?

The TA package makes waxing a real pain because of all the matte on the cars - so realistically the PPF and Ceramic is the lowest maintenance way to go, even if it requires replacement every few years.

.... Oh, ok. Never really thought of the decals! But like I said, I didn't realize that was an old original post, or I wouldn't have commented 😖

Agreed it is going to need replacement at some point. But, since I have mine ceramic coated and have that "refreshed" every year, the PPF should have a good long life. It's already been on 2 years and still looks like it did on day 1.

My installer informed me that there is a library of standardized templates that the installers plug in. He recently completed a T/A and several R/T stripe packages in the past so he was well aware of what to expect. He did perform a custom cutout around the 392 decals because , according to him, the factory does not always place these particular decals in the exact same location on the fenders. I believe he custom cut the nose piece that butts up to the matte hood nose vinyl strip. Stealth PPF was used on this piece and the hood. Everything else was Expel Ultimate Plus film. This has a ten year manufacturers warranty.

I am 100% sold on the ceramic coating. I recently gave her the first washing post application a couple of weeks ago and it was a dream. I used a leaf blower to dry it and the water blew off in sheets. I just simple blotted a few spots afterwards. The entire wash and dry probably took about 30 minutes but most of that time was spent cleaning the wheels. Now I wish I had the wheels ceramic coated. Ceramic coating also provides U/V protection for the vinyl which was an additional selling point for me.

This entire project was a journey but very much worth it in my opinion. I couldn’t have done it without all the help from the awesome members of this forum.

Yes, when they did my ceramic it got delayed and was in the shop for 3 weeks (owner had a death in the family, perfectly understandable). But, to make up for it he put ceramic on the wheels for free.
Makes cleaning up the brake dust so easy!
