I had been having intermittent fuel smells inside the car... in the garage and bad enough to smell it even in the house. I had searched the boards and saw all kinds of stuff about the fuel evap system. Well I had the car in today for a transmission fluid and filter change getting ready for a big road trip later this month. I asked him about it. The mechanic said it smelled worse by the filler neck and rear tire. He reached up and pulled the gas cap off. I said... oh I must have forgot to lock it... knowing that I never forget to do that... so I put it back on... clicked it several times and re-locked it. He reached up again and pulled it right off. It was an after market locking cap. I went to the dealer and bought an OEM locking cap for under 25 bucks. Hope that fixes the problem

I have read the OEM locking caps dont work well either, by that I mean you can just grab it and unscrew without the key if you try hard enough

I am having the exact same issue! I get code p0441 and the smell is from the rear tire. I think it's the canister
