Chrysler's "New Hemi" moniker is little more than a marketing tool. The "New Hemi" does not, in fact, have hemispherical combustion chambers.

Old news. Emissions killed the hemispherical combustion chamber. However plugs still go through the valve covers.:browsmiley:

And like the old Hemi more than 1 HP per cubic inch, much more.

Didn't they add double spark plugs to help compensate for lack of true hemispherical chambers?

It's for emissions purposes. The second plug fires just after TDC of the power stroke to ignite any remaining unburned fuel that would otherwise be pushed through the exhaust system and into the atmosphere.

Spark plugs through the valve covers, horizontally opposed valves, and the exhaust note makes it a Hemi to me. Listen to the exhaust note of any inline valve V8 compared to a Hemi (any Hemi). The Hemi design makes distinctly different sounds. If it looks like a Hemi and sounds like a Hemi.......
