GKN is the company that bought out Getrag.

They are the same part / design as your original

Hi Hal
Thanks for some insight. So why is the gnk labeled one 500 or more cheaper?

The prices vary on demand it seems, the 3.91 is probably the most popular so it's the cheapest. I had a 3.73 in my 14 and that thing was almost twice as much as the 3.91, no logical reason for that except supply and demand. (my guess)

Wow, that is confusing. A 3.06 without limited slip wouldn't even be a Getrag I don't think. I'd get with Luke in the morning and get this figured out.

There were 3.06 Getrags for SRTs and for a time, '12 - '14 R/T A5s could be ordered with 3.06 Getrag limited slip.

the open 3.06 was std on R/T A5 and the optional ratio on SXTs, but still open.

But the info says it's a 3.06 without limited slip, that would not be a Getrag right? The R/T A5 had a 3.06 open standard without the cooling fins.

There are probably more wider usage of 3.91 Getrags since every M6 w/ 20" wheels was equipped with it and by the laters years '13 onward, 20" wheels were standard on R/T models.

the 3.73 Getrag was on R/T M6 w/ 18" wheels and eventually the 18" wheels were no longer standard equipment.

It appears the majority of '09 - '12 R/Ts tended to be equipped with 20" wheels overall.

Errors in the listing the open (Mettingen) diff is a 3.06 [215mm] and has the smooth cast iron case. You're correct - this would be an entirely different part #.
-used different axles and driveshaft compared to the Getrag units.

Looks like the 215mm "Mettingen" 3.06 open diff 04593853AA

The 226mm Getrag 3.73 diff is part 04593854AH

The 226mm Gegrag 3.91 diff is part 05038237AH

the only difference that we can see is one is listed for SRT and the other for R/T, ultimately we believe them to be the same.....and have sold them both with no issues

5038237AH is the R/T version

68085391AA is the SRT version and was also used the Mopar 11 Charger R/T

and with 3.06

5038293AH would have been the R/T version

68085306AA and this one the SRT version

Yet another part number. Now you know why I am lost

The eBay link from your store is what I have right now. What I want to know is is the other 3.92 gear rear end part number as good of quality. I distorted the getrag ( cracked the case ). And it has 10,000 miles on it.

you probably want the part that has the 680xxx part #. From '11 onward the SRT version got shot-peened ring & pinion vs. the std. version for R/T models (503xxxx part). That weblink for SWP is showing a 503xxx version.

Since the 6.4s put out more torque, you want the stronger part for durability.
