If the track prep is good, you should be able to power brake it up to the converter stall and then let 'er rip on the 3rd amber.
If you spin (poor track prep), then get it rolling first with as much throttle as it will tolerate without spinning and then hammer down.
Agree with above - just haze the tires in the damp area for 1-2 seconds to clean off any debris. Don't dunk them in the water box - it's bad etiquette with street tires.
