Can anyone tell me with any certainty if I bought a Challenger w/o HIDS but wanted to add them..... well, can the dealership just add them? Would the aftermarket be a better route to take for less $? Of course, I would want good ones, not $150 chinese ebay crap. I have found some RTs that I like and wanted that on them.

They can be added - it will be a bit of $$ for labor, since the front facia needs to be removed to change out the headlight units.

The HIDS ran $695 as a factory option, and you'll need to ballasts and the HID bulbs to complete the installation. So it will cost more to retrofit since the cost of the individual components (housings, ballasts, bulbs) will cost more at the retail level.

If you are changing over a non HID car, you need Bi-Xenon HID's and projector headlights. The regular challenger uses a dual filament bulb for Hi Beam/Low Beam. The SRT's use Bi-Xenon HID for Both High and Low (an electromechanical shield moves to redirect the light).

You could install a Bi-Xenon kit into a reflector housing but it's not the "right" way to to it, IMHO.
