I know it's not a Challenger, but I figured I'd start here... I recently bought a 2014 Ram with an RA3 radio that had a functional NAV system on it. Since the thing had a dozen iPhones tied to it, etc, I figured a factory reset was the easiest way to clear out the last owner's junk. I did that yesterday, and everything seemed fine. I didn't really think anything of it, since what I had read said that once you upgrade to NAV on an RA3 radio, it sticks for the life of the radio.

I took the truck to the Ram dealer today for a recall, and afterwards, I decided to play with the NAV, and it wasn't there. When I go into the settings, the NAV database and server info is gone. Did the factory reset wipe that out? Is there a way to get it back? I didn't pay for the upgrade, and honestly, I doubt I'll use it, but what I had read before said it was a one-time upgrade kind of thing.

Another thing that is kind of weird, is that the dealership had replaced this radio under warranty, and SiriusXM shows it's a radio out of a 2013 2500, not the 2014 1500 I have. Would they have installed a used, older radio during a warranty repair? Ugh.

In any case, has anyone upgraded their NAV, and then done a factory reset? I'm interested in seeing what your results were.

Thanks!

Hi damnimcooltom,

You are correct, if the navigation was activated on an Uconnect system if should remain active on the system for the life of the vehicle. If you would like to send us a PM with your email address I'd be happy to provide a document and steps to re-activate your vehicle's activated navigation.

I have the '16 RA3 in my Challenger and I bought the Nav software key - I've done resets and 2 uConnect updates over the past year and Nav functions and had some updates to it as well. It added 3D (terrain) effects, which originally only had 2D function...

I have one issue after factory reset. I cannot update the maps on my dodge. existing maps work fine except JCV stopped coming up. When I try to update it gives me error message that
"map update provided is not compatible with your navigation system.
current maps : 1
update map: CN Middle East & Northern Africa 2018.10"

I have already installed 2017.20 on the vehicle which is working OK (without JCV). now if I try to re-install the same update after factory reset it gives me same error message as above with version number 2017.20 in the last. Any Ideas to try?

Here is what I did on my truck:

You can call 866-422-8182 and choose selection 3, and tell them you lost your NAV during a system update. They can look up your activation code for you, and give it to you over the phone.

It worked for me. Be sure to have your radio ID and NAV info ready.
