I bought a couple bottles of Meguiars Ultimate Protectant when it first came out. ....it was a highly anticipated product due to it's advertised characteristics. When I finally gave it try, the results were "ok". It lasts longer than other dressings I have tried but nothing special IMO/IME. Personally, I wouldn't use it for interior bits simply due to the extra sheen it leaves. ....fine of the exterior but not something I like for the interior. I prefer a product like Meguiars Quik Interior detailer or 1Z (Einszett) Cockpit Premium that leaves a factory finish (with no added sheen).
As for the exterior "surrounds" and other trim, I typically just use a sealant (something I prefer over using dressings/protectants whenever possible). I'm currently experimenting with a semi-permanent coating from GTechniq called C4. It leaves a nice matte-like finish and is supposed to last for up to two years. Reviews from fellow members on the detailing forums I frequent have been favorable. I was thinking of writing up my own review on this forum when I get a chance. .....the whole nano/semi-permanent/permanent coating technology has really been taking off lately in the detailing community.
QD's/quick detailers in general are typically designed to be "friendly" on most surfaces of the vehicle. ...paint, glass, trim, decals, etc. Obviously, results will vary and not all products are created equal. ....in other words, YMMV but in many cases you're "ok" using them on things like our stripes.
