I have some bubbles forming at the top of my 8.4 screen, like a separation or something. My car is a 2017 less than 2 years old. Has anybody else had this? Should I expect a new screen installed as a warranty replacement? I've never had a dealer repair on this car and wonder what to expect. Also, I ordered a screen protector (stick on tempered glass) I will not put it on this screen which is trashed, but do you think it may help in the longevity of a new one? One last concern- if I put a protector on the new screen, how can it be removed if desired? The heat just melted the acrylic LT badges on the cab of my Silverado like they were Jello or something!

The only way to fix melted plastic is to replace it as you already figured out. We have a similar issue here in Las Vegas and I've heard that Phoenix is even worse with the extreme heat. I am lucky that my car goes from my garage to a parking garage at work and will rarely be in the direct sun during the day. After you replace the screen you will want to look at things that will prevent the new screen from melting again. I use a reflective sun screen in the windshields of my trucks which are not parked in my garage. Some guys leave the windows cracked and some cars even have an active vent system that cools the interior some during the heat of the day. I would check with other locals about what works best for them. My 2019 Scat Pack has some pretty dark windows from the factory but the windshield is not as tinted. Also try not to park with the front window facing the sun if possible without a shade.

I am in southwest Florida, when it had my windows tinted. I
also had the windshield clear ceramic tint to help with heat
Not that expensive and it really cuts down on the heat inside the car

It's what's called Delamination. It's made up of layers, and the outer layer is separating. Unless the dealer tries to say you used strong cleaner on it or something, it should be covered. They sold the car in Florida, they should know if the screen will hold up. And agree with getting your windshield clear tinted if you haven't. Have to assume everyone does the other windows. A Guy

No I haven't tinted any windows . But I've changed my mind on that now. I think I'll do a medium tint with the clear protection up front, tinting under the louvers as well (they may not hold up much longer either-ABS). I was reluctant to tint for my night vision but I'm getting a 3M film so maybe it does't have to be so dark either.

Try the yellow polarized night driving glasses if you have an issue with dark tint and night glare. They work wonders for the wife since she has similar issues with night driving.

that's delamination - might have been a manufacturing defect

These 8.4" screens have been in production since '11 with various models over the years

Window tinting, a dash mat and windshield visor when parked are my standard equipment in all my vehicles in Florida.

I just noticed a bubble on my 2017 8.4" screen (very top left corner) and plan to take it to the dealership soon. I'm in FL also.

Here is possibly a stupid question. Is your screen covered by the screen protection from the factory? Some of the screens have a very thin plastic over the screen that is supposed to be removed at the dealer. My Colorado had it and you could barely notice that it was even there. I pulled it off and then applied the thin glass protection from Amazon. Good thing I bought the 2 pc. set, because I cracked the first one putting it on. They are made from super thin glass.

No there isn't any film. But I'm interested in that protector you are using. I bought one for my screen (when I finally make it into dealer to get my replacement). Do you think it will come off safely if so desired? Screen protectors I've used on phones were sticking glass to glass, no problem. I'm hesitant about sticking glass to acrylic, You can't just scrape your acrylic screen with a razor blade if any adhesive is left behind upon removal. How well does screen work with protector installed?(touch) My stupid question back at you...

I bought from Amazon ..NAVIURWAY two pak of glass protection. Less than 20 bucks. I did crack the first one, on its edge. Just make sure to clean your screen with a lint free cloth. I always watch a you tube video before I buy or do anything. I was looking at my Chevy Colorado screen protector and its near impossible to tell that there is a screen protector. And its made of glass, not plexi. Its very touch sensitive and works great. Highly recommended. Just put in your vehicle make/model for the correct size. I am going to get one for Chevy Cruze screen. Also wash your hands so you don't touch the sticky part......which really isn't very sticky.
Good Luck !

Hello Jasmine I am having the same exact issue on a 2017 Challenger with 8.4 inch connect screen. Dealer tried to charge me $1800 without even taking it out and looking at it. Very disappointing as I was without my car for 3 days just to get that news.

So just an update to everyone having this issue it has been over a month since I took it to another Dodge service they took digital imaging to send to warranty claims and I haven't heard back any updates since. Spoke with the service manager and Dodge customer service multiple times and haven't heard any updates. This is the second Dodge service I have taken it to the first one didn't even send images to Dodge just held it for THREE days and wanted $1800 for a new radio. 12,000 mile car with no radio for months. Thinking about just selling it back to the dealership at this point and looking for something else.

My car is scheduled for a replacement on Friday. The dealer said it was a warranty repair. Not sure if I'm getting a head unit or screen replacement. I did have to wait about 3 weeks for part to come in. Fingers crossed

Glad they are getting this taken care of for you! I haven't had the same luck between two dealerships and working with @DodgeCares

I haven't heard anything since they said they would send digital imaging to Dodge. It has been a mess. Keep us updated when you get your repair done!

My dealership replaced mine under warranty. It did take about 4 weeks for them to get a unit in. Apparently, there is a national backorder, they said. Not sure why you're getting all those issues destroyergray.

My car is in today having the unit replaced, full warranty. The people at Dadeland have gone above and beyond my expectations! Thanks Jasmine at Dodge cares for being ready to help! My first dealer service. I hope it's my last, but at least I can expect this kind of treatment from Dodge! Good luck guys, sounds like it could have been expensive!
