MSRP on my 2010 R/T was just over $38K, the car did not come with MyGIG and I had them add that system (around $1500 installed), and I bought the car outright, no trade, $29K cash, everything included (before tax).

2011 R/T with NAV, wouldn't pay more than $31K, absolute max (before tax), and I know that I could get one for that or less...

Good luck...

That may be the case here in LA as well. I do not yet know what I am talking about. But, I would sure like to avoid LA's near 10% tax
If anybody knows, please tell me:)
Register the car out of state for a month or two, then just transfer it back. Heck, you could rent a room from me in Iowa for $1 for a month, register the car here, pay 5% sales tax, and so long as it's in your name, all you would have to do is change the address later...! :)

Talk to Bob at Woodhouse in Blair, Nebraska, they'll be happy to sell you a new R/T and ship it to ya...(BIG dealer!)

Odd, my dealer is telling no incentives are currently available.
You can check online, Dodge.com build your own, check incentives and it shows $1000 on R/T. Good luck!

In going through this post I figure the cost in Toronto is about 5-7K more than in the US
Base Price for a 2010 Challenger RT is 36K, I picked up a 2010 RT Classic with 27M Furious Fuchsia, 6 Speed and Sunroof MSRP 43140 Can. got it for $28000 with $1500 cash incentive on top

We just picked up our Challenger this past Saturday, specs in my sig.

First, I feel I should mention an awesome program from USAA that anyone can use. USAA has a "TrueCar" program where you can get the USAA price without being a USAA member provided you use a participating dealer.

Go to http://www.truecar.com, select the year, model, and options you want. It'll tell you who the local participating dealers are. Then you can print out a certificate and the price is guaranteed, even if they don't have that exact car in stock the discount applies to any other color or options. In my case, the TrueCar price was $1500 below invoice.

So, long story short, my local dealer doesn't participate in the TrueCar program and they were the only one within a reasonable distance that had this car. So, I ended up getting it for $1250 below invoice, or $250 below invoice plus a $1000 rebate on top.

Ultimately there was virtually no haggling involved, got it for below invoice, decent APR, and they beat the other dealers on our trade by about $1000. All in all, I really couldn't be happier with the deal.

Anyone looking to buy new should definitely try out TrueCar.

Youch! 10%?! Sales tax where I am in SC is 7% but there's a cap of $300 on motor vehicles no matter if it's a Bugatti, Challenger or even a cesna citation jet airplane.

I picked up my 2011 R/T Classic GwE on 7/29. Paid $3,400 under MSRP including $1K incentive. This was the best offer of the equotes I received but everyone was very close.

I realize this is a little late, but maybe it'll help someone else that comes across this thread.

California is awesome (not) when it comes to taxes and registrations. They *really* don't want you to bring a new or near-new vehicle in from out of state. The two specific areas that hurt are...

NOTE:California law prohibits California residents or businesses from importing and/or registering a new vehicle with less than 7,500 miles at the time of purchase unless it meets or is exempt from California emission standards. If you acquire a 49-State vehicle (manufactured for all states except California) from another state or country, you may not be able to register your vehicle in California.
and

Use Tax: Collected at the same rate as your California city of residence sales tax. Legislation requires payment of use tax on a vehicle purchased outside California and brought into California within 365 days of the purchase date
What this means is if you buy a new car and bring it into CA it must have more than 7500 miles. Not only that, if you bought the vehicle less than 1 year ago you have to pay the state the difference in sales tax from where it was bought and where you live. I *believe* the DMV only applies the county tax rate.

So say you bought a car out of state 6 months ago and paid 5% sales tax, now you want to register it in CA. If your county sales tax rate is 7.75% then you have to pay the 2.75% difference. They're nice and give you a tax credit since, obviously, it's illegal to make you pay sales tax twice...so instead they just get you for the difference. :icon_evil:

Buy in Oregon (No sales tax) and you'll be stuck with paying the whole amount. On a $32k sale that's nearly $2500 you'd have to pay the state if your local rate is 7.75%.

Oh, BTW, the "use tax" applies to ALL vehicles bought within 1 year, new or used. Basically, don't buy out of state unless the deal is so awesome that you will still be ahead after paying the taxes.

Isn't CA awesome?
