So I'm having an online discussion with a Ford Mustang owner. He's been ripping the 392 Challenger and Charger. Claiming his Mustang 4.6 is smoking 392s.

"I crushed quite a few Challengers and Chargers with a 392ci hemi with my tired old 150k miles terd 2002 4.6 GT with just bolt ons and a scanner . I felt strong until I jumped on a Mustang with a 5.0 Coyote and I got destroyed ( lol.)"

Last time I checked a 5.0 Mustang isn't beating 392 Hemis. From what I've heard/seen/read it's close, but the 392's win. So of course I smell BS.

I asked him the only way he could be doing that is with some mods, definitely not stock. So I asked him to list his mods, he replied...

"Remove the hp robbing cams Ford use first then remove the fuel injection system . I then went with a victor carburetor intake that is right an old school carb. then a 1050 dominator jetted down call Comp Cams and they will build your cams to your specs. long tube headers X-pipe and a gear change .

I went with a MSD crank trigger system to fire the coil packs then have a chip burned for the set up !!! I then go crusin and let people pick on my little Slo 4.6 then I crush their hearts its fun to see peoples face when a weak lil 4.6 terd do a drive by . A engine is nothing but a vacuum pump the faster you get air in and the faster you get air out is the power the heads and cam set up is the most important thing . I know my car is not the fastest but my lil 4.6 terd is a real slee
per."

Not sure how much hp/tq gain he's got with those mods. Even with the above mods I don't see his GT crushing 392's.

He is most definitely bsing you. Nobody is putting a 1050 Dominator on a 4.6. Way too big. If he if fact has a car that quick it is no 4.6. Probably a mega inch big block. Knew a guy that had a dominator on a streetable 440 (550 hp or thereabouts) and it would foul the plugs if it idled very long. When he drove it he never let it warm up much at all because of that. And then short drives with a lot of full blips of the throttle.

My dad runs a 1050 on his 572 motor in his 67 Belvedere. They don't like street use, he does drive it on the street but as posted above it still fouls things up.
Takes 4-5 passes down the track to clear the crap out.
I run a 850 on my 440 on the street.
The guy is pulling your chain BIGTIME!! LOL

Mustang guys will never change LMAO

That's cute.

And another +1 from me on the "1050 Dominator on a 4.6". Dominators don't like to idle, they're an ON/OFF carb.

What's next? He has a block milled out of pure billet and the crank is Unobtanium composite with Unicorn tears?

I used to own a 2004 4.6L GT with bolt ons...no way it will beat a 392 lol Only way is if the 392 guy is sleeping at the wheel.

Loved that car, but in stock trim - they are not exactly fast. With a tune (custom dyno), CAI, Throttle Body, Catback I was at 242 rwhp and 255 rwtq...It weighed in at around 3500...but still...not even a close race.

In fact....

Thats against a R/T...fastest I could get that car (5 speed manual) on street tires was a 13.92 lol R/T was running 13.1

Reminds me of a poser in high school who once told me his alleged car (which, conveniently, he never drove to school or any other public place due to a long list of excuses) was twin-turboed AND twin-supercharged.

It's not endemic to Mustangs, there are braggarts and fools in every corner of the automotive landscape. I often tell people like this that they don't have to lie to make friends. I remember claiming I drove a 1969 Firebird in an online chat room. Of course, I was 12 at the time and subsequently grew up. Sadly, some people never mature past 12 (mentally or ahem, anatomically).

I've seen some quick SN95 4.6's, but they were either bored/stroked with a TFS top end kit..

Or 4V Cobra motors. IE..I have seen a 2004 Mach 1 turn a 12.9 @106, but to be fair..it had a full exhaust, intake, tune, 4.10 gears and long tubes in -200DA.

I have a SRT8 Charger AND run a 96 4.6 mustang as a dedicated road course racecar. (the racecar is class limited to 260 rwhp). A buddy, who builds mustangs for a living, just bought a 2005 4.6 mustang and added a CAM, exhaust, and a custom tune (he owns the dyno shop)......he pulled 360 rwhp with just those changes.

But a 1050 is B.S. My boat had a pair of 540ci motors and 1050's would have been WAY too big for it!

When properly modded 4.6 3V's are no joke. The problem is most people do a crap job of working on them. The early S197's don't need a whole lot of power to move with the quickness.

Just another dreamer who has read too many magazines and hasn't got a clue how fast his 4.6 actually is. I had two 4.6 powered mustangs, one 2000 GT, and a 2004 supercharged terminator with pulley mods, exhaust mods and tuned by a pro shop, the GT would probably get around a 13.9 to 14.4 at BEST. The cobra supposedly could run a 12.65 stock, although I didn't see it, best i ran was a 13.16 on a track, but I had clutch issues that day and it was a tossup if I could get it into 3rd gear on the first try, with the mods I had on it, it should have run high 11s, but probably needed drag radials to get there, I had driven a thousand miles for a car forum meet and raced it in street trim, and wouldn't launch hard enough to snap the half shafts, as I needed to get home when the weekend was over.

The supercharged cobra, on the street, was very quick, but I guarantee that it would eat this poser without trying hard. The 2V 4.6 isn't that fast no matter what you do to it, the 4v cobra motor could be fast if you knew what you were doing.
