Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with importing into Switzerland? I've gotten some prices for importing through dealers and then later compared the prices through "roll on roll off" and container shipping companies just to see and was surprised at how reasonable the shipping was. So apart from import fees (12%) I'm wondering what else there is exactly.

* find someone independent in the US to inspect the car for me
* get certificate of conformity in the US
* transport it from the dealer to the port, then to europe, and transport to Switzerland (I have this figure)
* find out any changes to be made to make it legal here
* pay 12% import fees for CH
* get the car authority here to check the car

If anyone has experience with CH or in general to mainland Europe it would be great to hear from you!

Thanks

I've done this, but it's been quite a while. Sounds like you've got a pretty good start as to what you need to do. Two things I'd recommend would be to 1.) figure out what's required for harmonization (any mechanical changes) and 2.) contact a shipper and ask them what's involved with the process. They should be willing to tell you even if you ship with someone else.

I ended up going through a dealer/garage here and placing a custom order for an export challenger with exactly all the features I wanted. Naturally it cost a bit more for this, but I'm ecstatic with the car now I have it.
