What should the Intake temps run an stock R/T , I am getting between 140-160 on a 90 deg day with engine at 195 on an average day, just wanting to see if i have a problem with sensor or other problem ,Someone is doing a tune for my car and he noticed these temps, this was just regular driving not stop and go ,

can some one send me a datalog to see where the temps run normally, on a 90 deg day

thanks

Those temps sound pretty high for a stock RT.You usually get those temps when you have forced induction or the IAT sensor is mounted in the manifold.Check the temp reading when the car sits over night and is first started.IAT should read close to outside temperture. If not you have a bad sensor.

yes, the car sat over nite and 70f on the amb
and 70f on intake, drove a while went to 110 and when I stopped the temp went to 150, restarted and drove and the temp dropped to 105, about 5 mins later @ 70 f amb.

I don't have a datalog for you, but the temps you describe seem about what I would expect on a stock setup after monitoring my ScanGauge readouts...except normal for stop'n'go driving for over 30 min (which is what you say you weren't doing) or after a fully-warmed engine has been parked for 10-15 min. It could get up there quickly after running the A/C, too. The fan blows hot air right on the induction tube like a hot air dryer.

The hot engine bay will bake everything in there, including the induction plumbing and IAT sensor, itself. The air inside the tube gets quite warm (as read by the IAT) as it just sits there under low flow conditions. It continues to sit there and absorb heat until the engine sees significant throttle for significant time periods, enough to draw all of that hot air plug through and displace it with freshly drawn air (hopefully being drawn from a cool/ambient source).

I checked a log from when I was stock(2008 SRT8).My IAT's went from 98
to 109 degs. in Florida weather.Coolant temp went as high as 212.THis was during and after a few WOT runs.As long as it gets cooler as you drive and you have 0 spark knock and timing pulled, you might be ok.

I'd say if it is hanging around IAT=100 deg F for continuous driving around in warm weather, that would be about what to expect for a completely stock setup. Naturally, it should temporarily fall toward ambient during high throttle runs.
