Never drove an 11, but my 10 R/T doesn't do that and I'm pretty sure the tranny is the same in the 2 cars.
Don't know much more than .83 you would want.
1st Gear-3.59:1
2nd Gear-2.19:1
3rd Gear-1.41:1
4th Gear-1.00:1
5th Gear-0.83:1
Reverse-3.16:1
I would have liked this a lot more for fuel economy thet the MDS thats for sure. You must be feeling the lack of overdrive in these cars. Going from 4th to 5th gear does not drop the rpms that much. Thats why I have always said we got screwed on the overdrive gear. It needs to be a bit more steep.
If that were the case, I doubt the 6sp manual would have gotten .50 6th.I'm not an engineer but my guess is they think to pull the extra wieght you need to be wound up a little tighter to compensate with road changes than the others. The OP wants to know if it feels like you need to be higher gear. I guess we'll never know, at least this year. When/if they ever put the 8 speed in then maybe we'll know.
I have said before I feal 2200-2400 rpm isnt ideal for highway mpg, so I to feal a 6th gear / overdrive would be nice for ~1800 rpm at 70 mph.Autostick or not, after I shift into 5th my Challenger feels and sounds like it has another gear it needs to be in (it's like you're in 4th and need to shift into 5th. It is a 2011 R/T auto. Thanks.
