I'm not an engineer but my guess is they think to pull the extra wieght you need to be wound up a little tighter to compensate with road changes than the others. The OP wants to know if it feels like you need to be higher gear. I guess we'll never know, at least this year. When/if they ever put the 8 speed in then maybe we'll know.

If that were the case, I doubt the 6sp manual would have gotten .50 6th.
I'm pulling the heavy beast under 1500rpm at 60mph just fine... and 2k is dam near 90mph.
