I don't know if anybody had this question before but I've been asked this question since the first day I bought this car, now it kinda bothers me. I have nothing against the Charger, But the Challenger is my car and its a different car!

Anyway, I was leaving a club last night and as I was pulling off the parking lot, there were some guys leaving the club as well. every 3 or 4 group of people were talking about my car. It was crazy. I asked my friend if they were talking about my car and he said yes. LOL. Things I've heard: .. "thats gorgeous" ... "wow" .. one guy asked me the question in the headline, another dude was asking his friend "is this the V6?" I jumped in and said, NO its a 6.1 HEMI! .. a bunch of guys in a suburban were like "This is the real s**t man" .. They were all college students and my car was the subject for their conversations!

I've never been in this position where I was the center of attention, in fact I felt like I was driving Batman's mobile! Was too much talking about the black Challenger, or charger for some lol.

It was a bit overwhelming that night! too much attention for only few minutes

Rock Star Status!

No other car I've owned draws the same attention that the Challenger does.

Yea, I'm glad a friend was their to witness how much the challenger is loved and respected. When I tell such stories sometimes I feel ppl think I exaggerate. Now my friend saw for himself!

Indeed it's rock star status

My Challenger has often been called the Dukes of Hazard Charger because it is hemi-orange.

The topper, however, was yesterday, when I gassed up my wife's RAV 4 in our local SUNOCO station that is operated by Indians. The young gas pump operator (Note: we do not pump our own gas in NJ) said to me, "Aren't you the guy who owns that cool Camaro?" It was nice that my SRT made an impression on him- but a Camaro?? Clueless people!

I just had an acquaintance ask me last week "was it a lot of work to restore?"

I said no, the car is new (well, 2009). Clueless for sure.

I have been asked if it was the new Mustang, or Camaro many times, as well as how old is it, and how did you manage to find one in that good a shape. Looks almost new, was it at Barrett Jackson.

Yes, the average Jane/Joe couldn't tell the difference between a Challenger or a Camaro either, in fact if you're sporting Detonator Yellow you probably get asked all kinds of retarded questions about your Bumblebee. :fight:

Unfortunately, you'll have to get used to the fact that people are just generally dense, so either come up with a snappy reply to the inevitable stupid question or just smile and enjoy the compliment for what it is: they dig your ride! :bigthumb:

Also, "Search" is your friend...............:browsmiley:

So the question now is: Does the "real" Charger get the same attention as the Challenger? I personally doubt it. There are hundreds and thousands chargers in every single town all over the US!

Just be glad they are confusing your Challenger with a Charger... at least they are both Dodges.

Pity the poor Demon & Duster owners, who have endured their cars being called Nova's for nearly 40 years. :disgust:

Still???

I thought maybe after a couple years we'd be past this point...

The new girl (barely outa high school) at work had been here since January, but I just brought the Challenger out from Winter hibernation a couple weeks ago. Then all the sudden she's very, very chummy with me...

(I'm married though, lol)

Get use to it. It doesn't really ever stop. If your shy, you might've bought the wrong car.

It's funnier when the windows are tinted and you catch some of the looks from people when they can't really see you watching them.

You get really good a reading lips. Most of the time it's wide eyes and dropped jaws.

Have fun with it.

Nope. In nearly 3 years some of us have had our cars, you're the first to get asked that!

Here'a a good one.

I took my 2009 HO Challenger SRT to the state inspection station. One of the other drivers asked me if it had a 426 or a 440 engine. When I told him that it has a 6.1, he looked very confused and walked away. It was then that I realized that he thought it was a restored 1970!

I was very pleased with how the new stripes looked on my Challenger. A little old lady in a Cadillac pulls next to me at a light and motions for me to roll down the window.........."Is that a Javelin? My late husband had a Javelin just like that!":icon_confused:

I was leaving the bar a few weeks ago and I overheard some girl behind my car as I was taking off saying "look at that car, its like a olds mans car or something!" Feeling a bit insulted, I preceded to do a tire balding burnout to reassure them it was a young, immature 33 year old doing the driving. I feeling much better after that. :) Most of the time when I go out though, people just love it and constantly gather around it.
