I hope this is the right place for this,if not I'm sorry. Here go's.I sold my short block to some company.I shipped it to them.A few days later I get an email and pic's,the crate was some what broke, engine looked good they signed off on it.then one of there concerns is the color of the block,It was painted blue to match my car, color of the block was never talked about, also there were to be NO sensors with the motor which was posted in the ad.I left in the 4 MDS sensors, one was broke when they got it.I sold it for $1100. + shipping, they want $500. for damages. What do you think??

Probably not much help, but I think $500 for paint, and a broken MDS sensor is real steep. Way too much. At most, I would think you could replace the sensor, and pay for some fresh paint. Nothing else seems to be wrong from what you wrote..

They should have never signed off, if the crate was damaged. Think about what would happen if you purchased an engine from them and it turned up damaged and you signed for it... Never sign for something that looks damaged from the outside.

Paint is a non issue as you stated it was not listed in the description, unless you made other verbal agreements with them outside of said listing.

Regarding the sensors, if you stated there would be none with the engine then fine, if the broken one is going to cost them $$ to remove then I say pay for removal of said sensor.

Good luck, these types of situations are always a PITA and one of the reasons I always sell "large/heavy' items locally (cash and carry only)

Did you have insurance on the crate/SB?
