I'll be doing long tubes and high flows come late winter. '13 392. So I'm starting to gather some info. First of all, did the owners or power players of American Racing Headers work for/with Mr. Kooks? I know Kooks used to be from Long Island and ARH is still here.
Any way, I think I've narrowed it down to the two of them. That being said, can anybody give any input on materials, quality, fit, finish, ease, (lol lack there of), of install, and overall rating of the header & high flow cats versus the price. Thanks guys.

When pricing the Kooks, call Maryland Speed a vendor on this site. They don't advertise there best price online.

Thanks. Won't be till winter but I'll keep it in mind. Thanks.

Great. "Why?" was my question in my opening post. No offense to you or anyone else. I want to know the reasons from you guys, the ones who have either one of these as to why you picked them. I went into detail in post number one. Thanks guys.

May or may not apply, but on my vette, & a few others we dynoed (4 different cars) @ CARTEK, the KOOKS pulled 5-10 RWHP more @ top end, over TPIS, ARH & Stainless Works headers....

Throughout the power band all were similar until about 5,000 rpms, them the KOOKS took off...

Thank you. Good info here. I do realize we are talking two different cars, however this is the stuff I'm trying to get out of everybody. I want to start a discussion as far as who experienced what, and how they felt about it between the two. "Oh the flanges on this one were crap" or "wasn't as much bottom end torque as expected" or "rusted in 6 months". Anything. These things, at least the Kooks, are like $1600. Not sure if thats with high flows or not. To me that's a lot of money for tubing. I want my **** to be the best tubes for that money.

I have kooks lt's and kooks catless mids. Everything lined up perfect! Except I had to bend my dip stick tube to get it off my header but that was easy

I had ARH longtubes on my GT and they performed flawlessly for four years until I sold the car and put it back to stock. I sold the headers to the president of the NH Mustang Club who put them on his car and is still using them.
I also put ARH headers on my SRT almost 2.5 years ago and they performed equally well. The numbers my car put down were pretty sweet and the sound was great! I just sold the car a few days ago and I really think the headers made a huge difference in the sale since they were included, and the buyer was an auto mechanic that had plans to put cams in and build the engine further. I had the larger diameter system with cats and also bought their catback system too. No complaints whatsoever, except you WILL need a tuner to adjust air/fuel ratios, etc. That's the case with any headers to optimize performance.
ARH is probably not to far away from you on Long Island. Why not stop in and see their facility and talk prices in person? You may be able to get a good deal installed right there.

Nice write up. Very nice. Yeah, they are literally about 15 minutes from my house. I have the tuner. This will be good because I'm getting dynoed tomorrow, have some small mods, so when I do the LTs and cats I'll see the difference.

Both are too notch quality I've installed both on a lot of gm LS builds I did for the dealership I worked at. either one will not leave you disappointed. Remember headers is not something you want to skimp on. The old saying you get what you pay for can't be more true!

Yup. Definitely don't want to skimp. I plan on doing the install myself, no help, in my drive way,(garage to small to do work in just big enough to get the car in), so if it takes more than a day I'll just push it in. That being said, I want to do this once, JUST once, the right way, with the right headers.

Teddy, it's a no brainer. Lol. kooks from Maryland speed with free ceramic coating and free shipping. They're kooks largest dealer. Can't beat that.

I went with ARH and I am completely happy with the results. But if MS offers free ceramic coating and the prices between the two are exactly the same, that is a no brainer.

I called ARH and got free shipping also, but he lives right around the corner.

Well from all the posts so far, it sounds like the two are equally great. Thanks for all the input. I bet one can't go wrong with either ARH or Kooks. Come late December, I'll have my mind made up and place the order. Thanks again guys.

Wow 6/10 is a lot in the quarter for such a simple mod. Every RT owner should be at the LEAST going shorties. That's awesome. I have Magnaflow comp series cat back by the way. Thanx for your input.
