Gotta say I'm mighty envious of those lucky blokes ordering a "Jimmy Kowalski" special Challenger from Bob Frederick and now receiving them. If it had been an automatic equipped vehicle I'd be there too. Unfortunately the stipulation from my wife was that 'her' car had to be an automatic.

With that said I can brag that Kowalski will be riding shotgun with me as I steer the wife's 392 home to Arizona from New Wilmington Motors in Pennsylvania. Maybe not the flesh & blood Kowalski, but an original 1971 movie distributed photo of him from "Vanishing Point".

I'll take Kowalski with me through a few fast-food restaurants on the way, but one thing he won't do is share a room. Jimmy's gonna have to stay in the Challenger trunk at night when the 392 shuts down.

Ole Dodge Holiday don't need any rumors starting up on being seen carrying a man's photo into a motel room. That my friends just ain't gonna happen on this trip!

Too cool!

Don't let him talk your off.

looks like it's going to be an interesting trip.

Haha!
You have the largest collection of 'Kowalski/Barry Newman' I've seen! Too Cool!

Sent Bob Frederick an address for Barry Newman's agent. Someone should try and get him to attend the C-fest. Bet he'd sign stuff if he came.

Back to the non-serious. Rumor has it that Kowalski was ejected after hitting the dozers, landing in a pile of soft sand. Unbeknownst to anyone, he survived the accident and hitched a ride on to San Francisco with a female news-reporter where he went to work for WalMart. Rumor has it he still works for WalMart as a greeter, 'though he moved from the Golden Gate city a few years back to the midwest somewhere?

I will be on a mission to locate Jimmy K.

Hey. I like the sound of that. Jimmy K.

DH you crack me up man!!

Great to have you around here ole stick !

Barry will cost big bucks to appear already checked that out via a few connections in the bizz.
He's getting up there now in age I do hope he is in good health as there is nothing about him out there as of late.
Were all gonna be greeter's at walmart someday :p Thats gonna be one big store!

I do have his home address, and phone number if I choose to beg him like a jerk off, that wont happen as I respect privacy of others..Life moves on VP was 4 decades ago. Of coarse it would be cool to shake his hand,as he was quite the iconic actor on TV back in the 70's!
He was very well liked by the public and still is IMO..But, to bother him wouldnt be cool.
Barrys is a Boston boy to the core for sure he has quite the interesting resume'.
Neat guy down to earth, sorta like you DH !
Mississippi Queen defnately needed more Cow Bell.

"Get thru em baby'! "Get thru em"! When you leaving for Mopar Mecca?
DH here is a rare still from an angle not normally seen, here is where Barry got his walmart greeter skills :p

Notsure - I understand respecting Newman's privacy. The only way to really try to get him to appear is have someone who's a friend of his ask. There's a guy here in Havasu who has connections to a lot of actors. I'll see him in a week or so. Will ask the guy if Barry is on his list?

My brother told me a story about respecting an actor's privacy. He worked as a air-traffic controller at Palomar. Clint Eastwood was taking helicopter lessons and would come in to the tower and talk shop with the guys. He was real comfortable doing so until one over zealous soul started pressing him for an autograph. My brother said after that incident he never stopped by again..

Can't wait to see photos of your car! Are you going to leave the mufflers stock or go louder?

Still trying to get loose from things to run over and pick mine up. Too many irons in the fire as they say. Bob has been cool about it and said he can keep it for a while. Still trying to decide whether to take a trailer over or just drive it. The drive would be good quality time for breaking in the 392.

Pictures of yours by early next week?

Good omen for sure!

The day I bought the stone white used SE Challenger..I drove it home...and the original 'Vanishing-Point' was just starting.

I considered this a good omen.
Good omen for sure!

I saw the movie at a theatre when it first came out. 1971 or 1972. Went with my brother Jim and a friend in my bro's white 1969 Mercury Cougar. After the movie we went trolling looking for a race. Something about the film and the white Challenger had amped my brother up for some competition.

Jim pulled up next to a Plymouth Fury and when the light turned green he dumped the clutch. I was in the back seat and the wheel hop was so bad it felt like I was riding one of those tavern mechanical bulls. My soda jumped instantly out of its cup. We just sat there bouncing until my bro let off the gas. By then the Plymouth was blocks away.

That was a turning point for me in not ever wanting a FOMOCO product. Having just viewed the movie I knew I had to have a Dodge of some kind. About a year later I purchased a 4-speed 1968 440 R/T Charger. Never had any wheel hop with that car being it had a Dana 60 and extra HD leaf springs. I hope this new Challenger can duplicate those glory days.

Nice but are there any pictures or a sales brochure backing this up? What exactly does A "Kowalski Edition" Challenger have in addition to a 2011 392? I'm guessing an all white 392 With a serialized & numbered dash plaque with actor Barry Neuman's signature somewhere. Maybe an added Vortech Supercharger like the Hurst editions? Otherwise not much of a difference between them and your ordinary, run of the mill, garden variety 2011 392. I just want to see proof of what we may be missing so I can judge for myself, that's all. Come on, make me envious!

In the other thread he listed about a dozen build option codes--but did not define them. Even w/o pictures if he'd define them that would be immensely helpful in knowing something about it--and he'd be that much less of a tease...
