Despite being a virtually identical setup (except for 100K less miles), I am virtually unable to record any KR during WOT driving, not even at the shift points. This seems very suspicious to me. Statistically speaking, I would have thought I would have seen some KR by now, but it literally is nowhere to be found!

I'm beginning to suspect that the knock sensor was picking up noise within the engine - probably wasn't audible inside the cabin, especially under acceleration.

That rod bearing was probably starting to go and then when it spun, it cut off the oil supply and wore away quickly and then there was audible rod bearing knock.
