This is my first time posting on the site about my runs in my car.

I went to island for their Black Friday event back in December. Temps were in the mid 20's towards the end of the night.

I got 11 passes - if I hot lapped the car I think I could have had 25+ passes.

Traction was pretty damn good for mid 20's

2013 dodge challenger srt8 auto with just a k&N cold air kit. I still have the stock 245 45 20's on the car.

I do raise the front tires to about 50 psi and rear to 26psi pre burn out....they usually raise about 1 psi after the burn out. Just before I get to the burn out box, I crank the heat to bleed off some coolant temperature.

I launch just a bit off idle and roll it into first gear.

I spun on every single run - sometimes just a little bit to all through first gear.

This is my third time with the car to the track....but I have 20 years of racing under my belt.

It is sooooo begging for a tire!

All in all, a great night at island!

I think with a bit more practice, it has a low 12.2 in it as it stands.

I've included the slips to my best ET and MPH.

With a little more seat time your will learn how to lower your 60' times. The mph shows the car is able to break the 11 second barrier. :cowtounge:

Been a while. Dang almost 20 years since the SLP days. Actually your were driving great on street tires. I think its time to treat the purple beast to a pair sticky sneakers.

I'm considering getting a SRT Challanger to do some bracket racing. Dang these things fly. I remember breaking into the 12's with a bolt on LT1 was big time news. I know you did it with a v6.

What's your option of putting on a set on drag radials and having a competitive car to double enter to run street and pro at AR or RP.

Sorry for hijacking ur post.

Those are some great 60' times for 20 degrees and stock rubber. Must of been some good track prep. You are probably better off with the stock rubber below 40 degrees as most DRs hate the cold (I know both of my sets do). Now for the bad news, next Spring you'll get some good runs in but as the temps rise, so will your ETs.
DRs, 180 stat and a tune to reduce tq mgmnt, raise shift points and rev limiter and you're in the 11s in good DA. They will help you stay in the low 12s in the summer which usually will take care of the stangs, camaros and 6.2 vetts.
Way to go, you obviously have the driving part down.

gotcha updated on the fastest list.

track open with temps in the 20's? Not very safe on the tracks part. they close our tracks at anything below 45.

congrats on the car. I think with sticky tires you will see 11.9s for sure.

have you put that car on a dyno? it has to be making some monster torque.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner guys, I need to check the site more.

Kazan, wow, blast from the past! Great to see you here, I hope I see you at the track one of these days.

I'm still really torn about putting some good rubber on the car. I'm just not sure what to get yet. I love the car though.

Kk, sounds like a good plan, thank you for the advice.

Dad's toy, I still haven't dynoed it yet, I hope to do it soon.

A couple weeks ago I took my old 285 40 20's from my jeep srt8 and put them on the challenger. I know they are a bit shorter but they cost me nothing. I feel a bit better traction on the stret but we shall see. They are nitto 420something. I don't remember the exact model. Tread wear is 420 compared to the stock 440 tires.

I'm going to the track tomorrow. I'm not super prepped but we shall see how it goes. I've gotta burn some gas off on the way down n now I gotta learn this tire.
