After an uconnect update I lost the ability to be notified that I had an incoming text and then have it read to me. Since I have an iPhone I could not voice text back but that was fine, did anyone else encounter this same problem?

Hi Challenger49guy,

Sorry to hear about this! We would recommend deleting the Bluetooth pairing from both your phone and your Uconnect system and re-pairing them. If this doesn't help please PM our page with your VIN so we can investigate further for you.

I didn't know we were notified of incoming text messages. How do you enable this. I have an iPhone too.

Thank you, the car is in the garage at the moment. I will try to pair them again when I get it back

I like the feature. When I first got my car, I could reply with voice, but I can't now, since I don't want to pay for the uConnect fee. It's the only feature I can see myself using, and since I have received about one text per month while driving since I've owned the car, I can't see paying for it. At least I can receive the text, and have it read to me.

"UConnect fee?" What is that ? Thought every feature was included in purchase price. Since I bought mine used (and not at a Dodge dealership), maybe this wasn't explained to me out of ignorance?

I found the solution to my problem, you must turn on notifications in the uconnect settings under Bluetooth.

To reply with an iphone, the phone must be unlocked if you have a passcode enabled.

My 6S works to reply by voice.

The bluetooth notifications thing should be in the uconnect instructions. I had to google to find it when I set my phone up.

Texting options with UConnect

By the way: moderators cut down on the amount of ads for this site; I rarely come here because it takes so darn long to load and typing is further slowed by the amount of things running in the background here!

Concerning your texting options in your Challenger, I just recently found this out. I have a iPhone 6s and a '15 Jeep and a '16 Challenger; both with UConnect of course. Make sure you have the blue tooth on with your phone but it does NOT need to be unlocked. Once the phone has been paired with your UConnect, you can use Siri for many UConnect services. Push the Voice Command Button (on the steering wheel, left side, in between the phone button and the phone hang up button) and hold it for a couple of seconds. Siri will pop up on your screen. You don't have to say "Hey Siri," either. When Siri appears and you hear the beep, say: "Do I have any unread messages?" She will tell you how many, who they are from, and read them to you. After each message is read, she will say, "Do you wish to respond?" If yes, you can dictate your message. You can also go straight to voice texting by activating Siri via the voice command button as mentioned earlier, and simply say: "Send a text message to Joshnson's Cell" (or whatever person you have listed in your phone address contacts.)
Hope this helps, it was very helpful for me to learn of this feature!
