im looking to improve the minivan automatic shifter the Challenger comes with.....i just dont like it...

i ordered a Mopar T shifter with my mopar bucks, but i am not sure thats the best answer either...its kinda trying to copy the old Hurst stick shifters...its not a stick its an automatic, so is that wrong?

i definitely dont like the gunslingers for the automatic...it just doesnt look right.

anyone have the T handle? any other options?

i wish the challenger had a dual gate like the old GTO's did....the side to side autostick is just strange to me..like a missed opportunity to go old school & copy Pontiac

We had the T-Handle on my wife's 'Cuda. It was a factory on the floor auto with console. I thought it was awesome. I think it helps in the looks department for the new Challengers.

My thoughts are that Dodge was going for some thing more true to this. With a brand new spin on it of course.

From what I understand it is very easy. I think you just push the chrome ring down from the bottom and it pulls of or something. There is a link to how to do it on this forum somewhere. I will update this post if I find it.

Found the link. It gives a good step by step on how to change out you shifter handle. The only problem with write-up is he tells you to put your car in drive for access, but never bothers to mention that it might be a good idea to put your park brake on. lol

It's a simple 5 minute install.

Love mine, too. The heal of my hand rests on it just fine. I din't realize you got an Auto on your new car.

I've used the Mopar T Handle shifter in my previous two Challengers. I decided not to use it on the 392 because it was awkward when shifting manually to bump it from side to side. I am now using the billet pistol grip shifter from Billet Technology. I think it looks better and works better when in manual mode.

I like the look of the T-handle but I opted not to get it. I haven't tried it personally but the side to side autostick combined with a T-handle just doesn't seem like it would feel right for me personally. I wish they would have done an H pattern autostick.

On rare occasions that I use the auto stick, I just tap the side of the T-Bar with my finger. It's not like you need the feel of a manual. I just like how I can rest my hand on the shifter when I'm driving.

i ordered the 6 speed, but changed to the auto for 3 reasons

1. its all that was available in white anywhere within 100 miles
2. its faster/ its easier to race
3. the wife can drive the car (i just bought her a new car 2 months ago, but i thought she'd have fun w/ the Challenger too)

if i could have found a 6 speed i would have gotten it, but i was like 51/49 on which trans i wanted..

I put the T-Handle on moine and I think it looks great. If I remember correctly the trim ring under the shifter knob slides down and there is a clip you push in to release the knob. There is also a small cover plate to the right of the shifter you can remove and push down on a button and it will let you move the shifter with the car in park. The T-Handle just slips on and has a setscrew to hold it.

I for one like the new design[T handle] better than the old slapstick
Best auto shifter, in my past Chevelle and 69 Camaro the GM horseshoe shifter loved the way it clicked into drive or each gear
its a "guy thing" or I"m just strange lol:notallthere:

$135 for a plastic shift handle...OMG.....probably $125 in profit

im going to start making plastic accessories for the Challenger too...just put a big 'M' on it and its worth 1000% markup

its going to look nice, but come on give me pot metal for $135
