Hey y’all,
Last night I ordered this chin splitter from American Muscle.

I think it’ll look good and installation seems straight forward by reusing some stock screws/locations and some additional screws to anchor the front.

I’m wondering if anyone else has installed this and what your thought are on the strength of the install. I don’t want to install splitter rods but I’m also paranoid about it flying off on the highway...

Just curious if anyone else had experience with this part. Seems the manufacture doesn’t recommend rods, but who can trust advertising 😂
Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this.

Be sure to post a follow up with pics. I was thinking about this one.
I’ll try and do that thing I always say I’ll do and never do and actually take pictures of the process! There’s a lot of decent reviews on this splitter but not a lot of install info it seems.

Put this on last weekend. love how it makes the front end look. im looking into splitter rods but the hold seems very sturdy except on the very edges, but i figured the down force wind will mostly be on the front and sides not the very edges so im not too worried.

Looks great and thanks for the reply!
If you end up getting some rods I’d love to see an update if you think about it.

Will do, once I finally decide which ones. Biggest thing is the size

That’s what had my head spinning a little too. Figured I’d have to get the splitter on first so I could take a tape and get an idea on size and placement.

Yeah exactly, the websites that sell them don't give too much about installation.

Those ZL1 rods are slick. I’ve already go the 392advisors front license plate mount in the two middle screws in the lower grill. Reusing those factory spots always looks super clean to me.

I've had the MP Concepts splitter for several months now with no issues. I always wonder if it's going to rip apart but have quite a few screws on it plus the ZL1 rods, which I wrapped in body color. So far so good so we'll see how it continues to hold up.

I got the 8" rods knowing I would place them in that area and didn't want to extend them if I had gotten the 6" as I didn't think extended looked good to me.

Looks great! Love the body color wrap.
I got mine on last night and I’m loving it. I’ll update with pics and such soon. Went with rivnuts instead of the screws the provide. I ordered the ZL1 8” rods last night. Plan to place them like yours and hopefully take some flex out of those outer edges. That’s the only wiggly bits but it is certainly attached snuggly. I pulled on it and the whole car lurched a little haha

Update:
Splitter arrived and I’m liking it.

The main difference I’m seeing between and the more expensive offerings is the thickness of the material.
I’m not unconfident in the strength but they make it appear thicker (like the ZL1 options) by rolling the edge.

You’ll have to knock down the plastic burrs around the mounting holes but these zip off easy with a large drill bit or countersink.

They sent the small screws and washers for the from mounting and you reuse the 9 factory bolts (7mm) on the back edge. The “instructions” included say 11 but there are only 9 and the splitter is drilled for 9.

I didn’t like the screws for mounting, so I went with aluminum riv-nuts, stainless steel bolts, and fender washers. Picked up a riv-nut tool from harbor freight and it worked perfectly.

Note how close to the front mounting holes are to the factory chin edge. Because of the shape of the factory chin in this area, you’ll need to stick with 1” or 3/4” bolts in the riv-nuts. On the outer sides you can do 1-1/4” but it’s not really needed. I also used blue thread lock because I’m paranoid 🤪

I pulled all the factory bolts. Put the splitter in place with three factory bolts. Double checked that it was lined up, and used the splitter’s predrilled mounting locations in the front to mark the spots to drill.
Pulled the splitter off again and drilled/set the riv-nuts.
Then it just bolted on easy peezy!

Very happy with the look and have already gotten compliments. Mounted solidly (i tugged on it and the whole car lurched a little 😶).

The outer most edges on the left and right have some flex in them. I’ve ordered the ZL1 addons GT4 8” splitter rods. I think they will help eliminate that flex by locking that outermost pivot point.
Overall, this is a steal at $100. I upgraded the hardware but others seem to do fine with what’s provided.

Looks good. Like the rivnut idea. You used 1” rivnuts or was that just the bolt size? Rods will finish the look.

Rods do help with outer flex although still there somewhat as they extend out more than rest of the splitter. Middle is solid though.

Thanks, man. Yeah the second I got it on I thought, “that look needs rods” and went inside and ordered them 😂

I used 1/4”-20 thread bolts and rivnuts. Had to drill a 3/8” hole for them. I also got some nicer ones with ridges in them and not the ones that came with the Harbor Freight tool.

@CruzinKC Couldn't post pic in conversation for some reason but this is the underside of the ZL1 rods. Washers filled the gap perfectly.
