I hope i'm in the right forum, my 1st post. Well I've had my 2010 SE for about 2 wks. I bought it with 10K miles on it. I'm extremely happy with it so far. I don't know if this has already been discussed in another thread. When i'm driving in the city up to speeds of 45 I notice that when I brake & the speedometer goes down to 40 mph it revs up from 1000 rpms to around 1400 rpms. Then it does it again when it hits 30 mph & 20 mph. Is this normal in the V6 challengers? So it's pretty much a pulling feeling. It's very noticeable when I see a red-light up ahead and I just let the car coast and slow down on its own without braking. It pulls at 40, 30 & 20 mph. I have full warranty for 60K miles. Should I take it into the dealership or is this normal & i just need to get use to it?

Can't say for the V6 absolutely but it sounds like normal downshifting. My 09 SRT auto downshifts aggressively as I brake and of course when it downshifts the RPMs go up.

Wow. I have had mine over two years and never noticed that before. Sure enough, on the way home from work today, it downshifted at 30 and 20, RPM went up to about 1400. Sounds normal to me. My advice is to drive faster and brake harder. Then you wont notice it at all.

That sounds normal for the 5-speed automatic - the MB applications do the same thing - assists in slowing the vehicle down during braking as well as having the lower gearing when you need to accelerate again.

It helps preclude the tranny holding a higher gear, then banging into a downshift when you need more acceleraton. It provides smoother operation and reduces driveline shock.

Hey thanks a lot guys. I appreciate all the advice. It makes me feel a lot better to know that it seems to be normal downshifting. Of course if it starts to feel like it's getting out of hand I will definitely bring it up to the dealership.

can u take it on a quiet road and get it up to 0-60 pop it in neutral and then try braking to a stop and see if it still reacts the same.

wait, you said it was pulling when it downshifted? I took that to mean when it downshifted, the rpms went up and the car tried to accelerate... did it try to accelerate or did the rpms just go up as the engine braking slowed the car down?

the rpms have to go up when it down shifts unless there is no engine braking on these cars (I have a 6 spd).

If it doesn't feel natural it more than likely isn't...only thing I've noticed in my SRT-8 is some rough rolls back into 3rd from 4th when it downshifts in auto, but pulling issues? Nothing...it does sound like it's just finding a gear, but that sounds very smooth esp if it's bothering you that much..

Take it by the dealer, let them look at it or first take another V6 Challenger out for a test drive, that's how I debunk my dealers who keep saying things aren't wrong, I go out right on the lot and compare, they can't say anything if I prove it right on their lot (well I guess they could but I'd get them some bad publicity for denying warranty service that they are legally obligated to do) lol

Don't throw it in neutral while in motion. There is a warning in the owners manual that if you do, transmission damage will result
