I know that in this forum exists many post about the best cat back exhausts for a challenger srt8, but really I don’t have to much time to search ….so first a little history….. I bought my 09 SRT8 Challenger some months ago, and after run it in the ¼ mile here in the Island I get 14.2 with the stock motor and the best pass was 13.7 with only a Predator Tune 93/Cai.( The humid and temperature is a typical tropical weather) I was disappointed with it, but I know now that the weight of this car kills many expectative. Now I am working to add some performance parts to gain more power like the old school ( by this moment no SC or turbo) So I add a catch can, a 180 stat, Mopar CAI, and a tuner here in PR made some mods to my 93 CAI Tune, ( the cars feels different) but now I want to buy a cat back and in a couple of month a set of LT Headers.
I want to know your recommendation of the best cat back with the best price, best performance gain, but will be not to loud. My car have an automatic trans. Let me know your experience and best recommendation.

what exhaust to buy

well i will tell you first you are about to spend a fair chunk of money, my best advise is to listen to other cars on you tube, this will help you in not wasting your money on doing things twice, what i have on my 10' challenger srt is American Racing long tubes with thier catless mids and i have corsa extreme run the rest of the way, i just like the corsa sound, as far as ARH goes they are the best, the guys know where to put the bung clock position for your AFR if you decide to run a super charger later on, they will give you a plug you leave in until you are ready, i have Kenne Bell, their customer service is second to none, and i mean that! now with my system it is quiet until it is time not to be quiet then its like a drug addiction the sound is so raw its almost like being uncapped but better because its tuned, but inside the car you can roll up the windows and carry on a perfectly normal conversation, believe me though you will want the windows down and you wont be using your radio very much any more, the sound is addictive, my gas mileage plummeted from 16.5 to 15 the first week because the sound is sooooo freaking awesome, i kept making them sound off with my heavy foot, as soon as i went back to regular normal driving the mileage came back. not sure what ARH full system sounds like but if you can, go catless go American Racing and go have fun.

I don't think you're going to get much of a power gain from a cat-back system. As for sound, if you don't want to be too loud, I would stay away from GT Haus (Meisterschaft), it isn't too loud at idle and putting around town, but just cruising down the freeway, it has a decent rumble, and when you get on it, it is fairly loud. It is the meanest sounding exhaust out there.

If you can, I'd say go to Challengerfest II in Bowling Green. THere'll be tons of cars there with lots of different exhaust systems. Listen to each till you find the sound you like. Cat-back systems aren't cheap, you want to be happy with what you buy.

I don't know if this is still the "in" exhaust but I went with my ollllld standby... Zoomer's catback.

Has the SEXIEST sound i've ever heard on an SRT8 (for my taste, I don't like the raspier Corsa) I wanted a deep rumble that is VERY noticeable when PROWLING around at lower speeds and that sounds amazing at WOT... Zoomers accomplishes this AND THEN SOME.

I've had it on my two other SRT8's and fell in love so it was only logical to throw one on the Challenger.

I would recommend taking a STRONG look at Zoomer's if you're looking for that DEEP american V8 rumble. :guiness:

Here's a video of theirs from way back when that shows the difference between stock and the Zoomer's cat back (if you have good speakers it's worth it)

Also, here is MY SRT8 SuperBee when it had Zoomers (i'd record a video of my Challenger but I dont have the exhaust installed yet).

Thanks to all for the recomendations, really I am Mopar Lover and I love the sound that have my old 72 Demon 340 and my father 440 71 Challenger, so now I have this car and is my daily Driver, so I have two babys that love the roumble of this cars , but I have a wife that hate the sound !! so I am considering to buy the ARH Headers, about the cat back all sound good,,,I saw the Corsa in a 09 Challenger with a Arrintong 440 motor, sound is like european car, I saw other Yesterday with a Maganaflow, I like it, but both here in PR are to expensive, I saw the video of the Zoomer and sound like a pure Muscle Car.

Any comments about Dynomax, FlowMaster, Jegs or Summit Racing cat Backs? I saw also that Tti have a header and cat back for sale but use Dynomax muffler......

Anyone here have somes dyno results with the aftermarket catback? before and after?

Thanks!

I have the solo Mach 3 x. It is the best exhaust for this car. And no drone.
Under a grand delivered. Bad ass sound and no drone!!!!
:bigthumb:

I'd listened to different exhausts for over six months before deciding on the Solo system. I see no reason to spend twice as much unless you feel the need to have the 304 stainless where nobody can see it anyways.

Where I can find information about this Solo Exhaust? Did you know how much power will add this kit?

Just search for Solo Performance on this forum and you'll find plenty of info. Solo makes some pretty bold claims when it comes to HP/torque gains but my car definitely feels more powerful and it sure as hell SOUNDS more powerful! :smokin:
