So I was @ work the last few days poking and prodding the Chrysler HQ engineers to give up precious nuggets of information and I was able to squeeze a few points of interest out of them;

-Challenger is currently planned to continue until 2014 (we knew that, but it's nice to hear it elsewhere)

-2012 Challengers will be getting factory park-assist backup sensors (not sure about backup camera, he didn't specify and I forgot to ask)

-2011 interior refresh is all that is currently planned between now and 2014 (no 2012 Charger style changes)

-2013+ model Challengers are going to an "electric throttle" instead of the current fly-by-wire system... Not sure what that means though since fly-by-wire is technically electronic. Anyone with technical expertise know what he was referring to??

Anyway, thought I'd share.
Don't know if this is old news or not. A week ago this past Friday I learned that the 2012 Chrysler 300C SRT8 will be All Wheel Drive with the 8 speed Tranny. I'm sure that by 2014 Challenger should have some of this stuff. If not it would be nice.

Ok, an all wheel drive 426 Hemi 'Cuda for 2014. Now that would be something!

I really like the new Charger interior too, really cool, but the one 'mistake' is the black gauges. Prefer the white gauges by far, and if they put black gauges in the Challenger, I'd be extremely disappointed.

In case anyone is wondering why anyone, like myself would prefer the white, its simple. Its an eye trick. When you walk into a room, the FIRST thing your eye focuses on is black. Same principle, when you look at a white gauge, your eye goes to the NUMBERS first, which is why you even look at a speedometer. If you look a black gauge, your eye takes a split second to not focus on the face and find the numbers. I didn't believe this at first, but go try it. This is the reason race cars use white gauges. We bought a 2001 Grand Caravan and I was so glad Chrysler put the white gauges, even in there. That was free.... ;)
I always wondered about white guages. They are easy on the eyes.
Alot of cars are getting away from them. They were the trend in the late 90's early 2004-ish. My 2003 Montero Sport even has them :). I was always partial to the MyColor by Ford. Really enjoyed that in my 5th Gen Mustang.

Wow... just think of all the bitching when the SRT8's hit 4200lbs... can you imagine the comments when it crosses 4500lbs.

Soon going to need class 2 stickers for them :indifferent:

It seems quite logical that there will be a 'Cuda when the Challenger's clock runs out. Chrysler could keep the existing body shell, saving them a boatload of money, and swap in new 'Cuda-specific features. It would give them a chance to refresh the interior and explore alternative powertrains as well. Bring it on!

I feel certain this won't happen. I think Fiat/Chrysler/Dodge will move from a MB based platform to a smaller Fiat based platform to introduce a Cuda model. This is in keeping with the industry, as it's been confirmed that the next generation Camaro will also be moving to a smaller platform. Additionally, I don't think a Cuda will be a true retro model like the Challenger, but a new model with some retro styling cues like the Charger.

The one problem is that the 'Cuda name is it belongs with Plymouth. Dodge 'Cuda just seems wrong... and doesn't flow well if you ask me. The only way I see them doing a 'Cuda is a very short run of a Limited Edition numbered cars in a handful of colors and as an SRT-8 or with a Viper V10 under the hood is all.

Why not a "Chrysler Cuda"...
Works for me.

A little bit off topic, but I'd like to see one on a smaller platform, styled after the '67-'69 fastback. The one with the huge rear window.
I'm wondering what kind of fuel mileage a 5.7 in a 3500 lb car would get.
You know it would fly. And that's not even considering the SRT motors.

Why not a "Chrysler Cuda". When Plymouth was discontinued the Prowler was then sold as a "Chrysler Prowler".

It may be a Dodge - Dodge is positioned the sporty/young brand whereas Chrysler is for the old folks and the boring cars. ;)

It would be a lot easier to sell a potential Dodge owner into a 'cuda than a Chrysler owner.... assuming the new 'cuda is a sports/pony car.
