Power steering

RS,

Is the 2012 SRT8 sticking with the hydraulic power steering or is going to have the electric power steering like the R/T's?

The 2012 SRT8 is staying with hydraulic power steering. RS answered that question in this thread:

Well that's good, it appears my contact was correct in saying 2012's get the park-sense backup sensors!

That should help out since visibility is terrible in these cars when backing up!

Heated steering wheel is neat too...
...Thanks RS.......Boston Acoustics? ...What happened to the 900 Watt HK System?
RS said HK may be late availability in an earlier post here:

I HATE how Chrysler always does this "late availability" crap.

Is it SO hard to just plan for releasing all your goodies at the beginning of the model year so people don't miss out!!?

I would be furious if I bought a loaded SRT-8 with a crappy stock system only to have 900watts available later!

It's going to happen too, because we KNOW a lot of Dodge customers don't research these things like us ChallengerTalk nuts do; and I doubt the dealer is going to encourage customers to wait by telling them about cool stuff being released later!

BTW: why did Dodge/SRT part ways with Kicker??? I've never had any complaints with the 5 Kicker systems I've owned in my cars???

While it might sometimes be to my detriment, I have no problem telling people what is coming. I am more concerned with your long term satisfaction, than current month's pay. This is why I usually have as many, or more, sold orders in the system at any given time than we sell in a month. We currently have over 17 sold order Challengers in the system, and not all of them are GWE cars. And I absolutely enjoy working with forum members more than the average joe.

...Appreciate the Heads Up . Gotta agree with Ironside here....had plans to order a 2012 SRT Challenger next month when the order banks open up, but want to confirm the 900 watt HK System. Waiting....Waiting....Waiting
2012 Update

It appears that the 18-speaker/900-watt sound system will not be delayed, and it will be an option on both the R/T and the SRT8 models.

Rain Brake Support, Ready Alert Braking and Hill Start Assist will be Standard on all 2012 Challenger models.

Well It might be because my Boston Acoustic 7 speaker system that I had in my 2010 R/T Classic blows away the Kicker system in my 2011 392. The Kicker has more low end yes but the mids and highs just suck compared to the Boston Acoustic. Thats my opinion though.

Putting 2+2 together--since hill start assist is a feature for manuals, sounds like we'll be seeing the 6spd transmission as standard and auto as an option on the SE in 2012. Is this a correct inferrence?
I would not jump to that conclusion. There has been feedback on other threads, that offering a manual on the SE has been a major debate within Dodge, but they just won't do it on such a limited model.

But I'll hold out some hope. Doesn't it get tiresome for people to keep saying: "Ford and Chevy offer a V6 manual?"
To ResumeSpeed:

Is there going to be a special edition Challenger that will compete with the new Camaro ZL1 as far as 550+ HP?

Is there going to be an increase in the HP and TQ for the 2012 392 Hemi?

Thanks, Rob

Nothing in the pipeline that I am aware of.

Numbers are the same.
When do order banks open for the 2012 Challengers?
I was told by my dealer that orders for 2012s can be made starting in July.

Order banks will open any day now, they are already open in Canada.
