just picked up a 09 rt challenger and want to improve / give a little performance. what is the best up grade to get better gas milage. i dont want to go crazy on upgrades, but im thinking exhaust and air intake might squeeze a little better gas milage out of it. what ya think... would it hurt the gas milage?

Well on my 07 srt8 jeep which is a lot heavier than your challenger i picked up 3 mpg on the freeway and about 2 intown with a cai and cmr dyno tune. I get 14 intown and 18/20 on freeway. In the performance dept i picked up in the 1/8 mile .44 et and 4.19 mph. B4 i went to the cai i tried chrysler hp drop in filter which flows more than the k&n and no change at all even at the track. On the dyno i picked up 7 hp with the cai but looking at the new 392 intake time will tell as someone will do some testing. Our oem air box draws air from 2 places, the front gril threw a scoop that connectes to the air box and from the bottom like the challenger does. My gsm cai is like the volant and they dont make it anymore but havnt seen any better so far.

lol.. well i just picked the challenger up. I went from driving a f150 that got 13 miles per gallon to this. So its actually gets alot better gas milage lol..

LOL I hear ya! I traded in my Hummer three weeks ago for my new SRT8.

I got 12 mpg on the Hummer so my 18 mpg I'm averaging now is great!

I came out just about even from my v6 '99 mercury sable to this beast.

Sable => Challenger R/T

MBRP or CORSA Xtreme cat-back exhaust,K&N CAI,180 T-stat,Predator Tuner,JBA Shorty Headers.If an auto disable MDS with Preadator.Also with Predator enable Throttle Boost.Fully diable ESP using the 'Key Trick'.

Then watch that smile on your face grow even larger,...:icon_biggrin:

so whats ur's run in the quarter? have u ever gotten in dynoed or down the track?

Have not had it down the track as of yet,...but I know it will be faster than if I would have taken it down the track when it was 100% stock.

The car performs much better since I have installed those basic bolt on mods and Predator custom tune.I had the car on the dyno when it was 100% stock and will be having a CMR Custom Dyno Tune done very soon.I expect to gain around 40RWHP,...which would be on line with other owners who have done similar modifications to what I have.
