So I am gathering parts for an engine build. I was looking into replacement oil pumps. I noticed that the OEM part number for the 6.4 oil pump is different than the 6.2. Anybody know what the differences are? Is the 6.2 better. Just looking for information. TY.

All I can find on the oil pump differences is this which is detailing to some level the differences between the 6.4l engine and the new 6.2l engine:

Oil squirters, aimed at the underside of each piston, aided by a special oil pump pressure relief
valve.

It is from a PDF:

SRT V8 Engines/ 6.1 and 6.4 (392) V8s; Supercharged 6.2 Hemi.pdf

I don't recall the link but a search should turn it up.

I have no hands on experience with the 6.4l or 6.2l engines but I haven't come across any thing that suggests the 6.4l oil pump is in any way not up to the task. If you can check the end clearances and try to pick a pump that has the smallest clearances. This will be the pump that produces the most oil volume and pressure.
