So, I suddenly got the P0305 code (no other codes) from my CEL/OBDII system. The car is an '11 SRT8 6.4.
I am aware that is listed as a #5 cylinder misfire and could be a variety of things from a faulty coil, injector, sensor, to something more serious like a broken valve spring. Has anyone else had this problem? What seems to be the most frequent cause? Anything relatively simple I can do to attempt diagnosis before I take it to the shop? I have already visually inspected wiring and connectors. No obvious problems. The engine compartment has not been exposed to any water either. What do you think?

Correct. 305 is cyl 5 missfire. Do you feel the miss? If not clear it and see if it comes back. If you can feel it swap out # 5&1 coils and see if the miss moves to a 301. I replace lots of coils but not to many on dodges. I have seen the pcm's get wet on these cars and cause miss fires . Just blow it off and dielectric grease the connectors and usally clears up.
