I like it but I think gloss paint is not a good choice since the DIPS have a rough and uneven surface. Flat paint is best for uneven surfaces, whereas gloss paint highlights texture. Next week I'll sand it down and repaint them flat red.

Whichever you choose, paint them with clear after. It can be polished gloss if needed, and will also be the sacrificial issue for any road rash without going through the color coats

I have painted a ton of textured plastic, lol. You can coat with sandable primer if you can't knock down the texture, then paint (gloss or flat), then gloss clear if you want shiny (Shiny is my middle name...kind of odd actually :p )
