My car: 2012 Yellow Jacket, Stock, no Mods
Yesterday I had a Mustang Shelby Cobra want to run me from a red light. When we took off my Yellow Jacket started to bog out in first before it was really time to shif and then did the same in second. While we stayed basically neck and neck, I could have taken him much better if it would not have bogged out. We shut it down shortly after hitting third as he got on the Freeway and I stayed in the Feeder. Does the Jacket have a limiter on it?? What Mods are suggested.

manual transmission???, if so i think you hit the rev limiter.....on these, you need to learn to shift before the limiter is reached, because you will not recover from the bog, most likely the rev limiter is set about 5500 or 5800, have to look at mine, with a tuner you can raise that slightly would not recommend anything more than 6300 or 6400

Were you losing traction on the 1st and 2nd shifts?

If so, the ESP will kick in. The system senses when a vehicle is starting to spin (oversteer) or plow (understeer), and attempts to correct the vehicle’s course by automatically controlling the throttle and applying the brakes at individual wheels.

Most disable ESP when they drag race.

I think Luke was referring to a 5.7. The jacket is a 6.4 and the stock rev limiter maxes out around 6250. With my custom tune, I've raised mine by 400. You need to practice to be able to shift before you hit the rev limiter as Luke said as well as lunching technics. What kind of Shelby was it?
