We have recently joined forces with the TPN Racing Blackforest team, and joined them for the event this past weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway's road course. I wanted to let you know how the team did, and provide some general information on the GRAND-AM series for anyone new to it. You will definitely want to tune into these races ... there's nothing better than seeing these cars on track!!

The GRAND-AM circuit has 2 series, and each has 2 classes. The top series is Rolex with a DP (Daytona Prototype) class and GT (Grand Touring). TPN races a Ford Mustang in the GT class, and is the only Mustang in that class. The other series is Continental Tire with a GS (Grand Sport) class and a ST (Street Tuner) class. TPN races a Dodge Challenger in the GS class, and is the only Challenger that class as well.

It is quite an undertaking to be the only competitor in a class driving their particular make/model but to do it for both series is quite a feat! These are both brand new cars, so there will naturally be kinks to work out, but they are both showing extremely great promise in their respective classes.

At Homestead, the Challenger developed a minor engine issue during Friday's practice, but in order to not cause catastrophic damage the car was parked and did not compete in the rest of the event. The team is already working on a rebuild and the car will be ready to race at Virginia/VIR May 13-14, 2011.

The Mustang had a rear-end gremlin during the practice sessions which kept their speed down, but were able to start the race. This car looks amazing on course and the V8 really screams going into turn 1 after the long NASCAR front stretch. Unfortunately, the shifter didn't hold up and after the first pit stop, the car had to be parked for the day.

All in all, the team had a disappointing weekend by looking at the race results, but from a big picture view, this is all part of the process of building such amazing race cars. The TPN guys are as nice as can be, and there are so many great things going on it's hard to even be disappointed. The future is very bright for both cars, and we are just thrilled to be involved with such a class act team.

Look for some really terrific things coming from this partnership in the near future ... you won't want to miss what we are cooking up!!
