Has anyone had their propeller shaft replaced under TSB 03-004-16?

My dealer previously confirmed my car "qualifies", and I just got a call that the part has (finally) been delivered.

If you've had it done, did it help? How long did it typically take? I've always had a "whine" in 6th gear, and somewhat of one in 5th.

If you chose not to do it, why so? I'm always leery about having dealers do work, but this dealer has a good reputation.

I took mine in to have it looked at and he said it wasn't bad enough to replace yet. If it got worse let him know and he'd take care of it. Mine doesn't seem to whine as much in the cold weather.

PaVa Steeler,
have you had the drive shaft install and did it help the whine? I have a 15 scat pack with a whine at about 40 to 43 MPH and sometimes even higher speeds.

Actually, I was supposed to have it done, but neither myself or the dealer realized I'd have to remove my side pipes, since they have to remove the exhaust to do the work. Since I have a 5 year powertrain warranty, I confirmed I can get this done anytime before that runs out.

Hi FAST ED,

Have you visited your local dealership for further diagnosis of your whining noise? They would be best able to identify if this TSB applies to your vehicle and should be performed. If you need further assistance please don't hesitate to PM our page with your VIN and let me know!

I finally gave in. Since I had to go in for that vapor canister recall and a state inspection, I told them to go ahead and do the propeller shaft replacement outlined in TSB 03-004-16.

I will report back once the replacement parts are installed. The dealer had to order everything.

2015 Scat Pack M6:

I have completed the TSB and I'm happy to report that the whine is gone. Part number 53010735AF was installed, replacing 53010735AA. You can find out your drive shaft part number by looking at the section of the drive shaft that sits between your mufflers just in front of the rear wheels. It took the tech just under an hour to do the replacement.
