Proper CAI for 23 R/T Hood

685 Views 21 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  DoggerCDN
New owner of 23 R/T. Wanting cold air intake and part# dealer insists is correct says clearly on instructions for Shaker hood cars. Since my R/T only has stock single scoop hood, is underhood ducting possibly same as Shaker. Is the cold air intake for Shaker and R/T same as dealer believes, or is there another part#?

Agree with Frank, get the T/A ram air kit.
Car doesn't have T/A package, just regular R/T with single center scoop. Does this make difference?

Show an underhood picture please, it will help advising you.

You on the other Forum? RYZT or something similar? LOL I know that engine.

No CAI is going to make a performance difference because the factory intake is already cold air.

It will look cool though having the T/A ducting, I would do it if it were my car.

According to the instructions, this is 100% bolt-on for a newer Challenger. Are there any downsides to installing this? I need to check before I do a $700 impulse purchase for my '21 R/T.

Depends on how you feel about having a wallet that's $700 lighter and a car that's zero percent faster.

Yes. That's my hood. Know it doesn't add any real HP, but with the air catcher headlight duct thought it would help with heat soak. Also being listed on build sheet as dealer installed options like braces can't hurt and "blings" up under hood a little. Need all help I can get as it doesn't say 6.4 under there:( No Scat Packs available in Canada except what is already sitting on dealer yards

Other than being $700 poorer probably not. I would love to do this for appearance on my '22 but just cant justify it.....yet.

To help with heatsoak you could always do the Hellcat lower airbox and headlight tube for a fraction of that cost but it gives very little appearance improvement.

I've heard complaints about the CAI being loud, but maybe those were aftermarket versions.

How would people complain about that. I can say I have heard though that a toyota Prius has a dead quiet intake.

I think all cold air intakes are louder than stock. I know the one on my 08 Ram moans louder than the exhaust
After bringing the part number above to dealer I got NOWHERE! They swear the one they are listing is correct for 23, and when they put in above part# it says "Does not fit 2023 Challenger". I have also tried every parts site myself all with same answer. Yet when I read installation instructions, the T/A CAI looks 100% correct and the one dealer lists seems to not hook to anything.
They will order whichever one I want, but I am stuck with result. No returns because not following Mopar site information.

Are all Mopar's parts sites incorrect and Steve is correct in his recommendation ( I think so )? Is there any way to verify fit before I take gamble and order? I think Mopar site thinks all Challengers still have old style double vent hood
Click on the link to read the installation instructions. The description and pictures are a perfect match. That should confirm that it is the right part, even to the dealership guys.
On the MOPAR sites, and many other aftermarket sites, if the info hasn't been updated to the latest MY it will show as not fitting. The hood didn't change, I will bet money it is the exact same part and will fit ;)

A Guy
For anyone who's installed this Mopar kit on an R/T: in the picture on the site it shows install over the hood insulation, though it says SRT hood insulation won't fit. The instructions are from 2016. Anyone done a more recent install (mine is a 2021) over the stock hood insulation?
FYI: according to the Dodge site, the new hood insulation referenced in those instructions is listed as "no longer available". Based on my past experience with discontinued models of cars, I'd expect the number of items with that status to get very large very fast.
