So from what I've read, the black key limits the horsepower to 500 by maxing out the rpms at 4000.
On a manual shift car, does this mean the fuel cutoff will engage at 4000 if you don't shift before then?

The car has an electronic throttle so it could just back off as the RPMs approach 4000. On a side note I though valet mode limited RPMs not the black key.

maybe you are right....I assumed that would be the way to limit the hp...by limiting the rpms?

Agree. Black key allows full rpm, only Valet mode limits rpm.

Plenty of ways to limit hp on modern cars. Timing, RPM, throttle.... They could just limit the throttle to 80%, (or some < 100 percentage). Limiting the amount of air that can flow through is a sure fire way to limit HP.
