Any one know how to make the 2010 R/t shift like it should? If i leave it in auto and drive around normal it shifts through all thr gears in like 50 ft. then goes into terreble drone.I tryed the Predator but will not change the shift points on the 2010.Asked the dealer and no help. I need to take my new truck in for recall Monday and am going to try and drive a new 2011 and see if there is a difference.if there is i will try to get them to ride in both and see what they say. :eek:hthedrama:

Just use the auto stick feature it will wake you and your challenger up

I periodically remove FUSE #2 in the fuse box for ten minutes or so, this resets the 'learned' shift points. ( you can also disconnect the neg battery cable for a while, but for me this resets too much electronics ).

But I tend to drive in Auto Stick most of the time anyway.

Autostick is really the only way to cure it. I try to drive in autostick in town, but I get in too much trouble.. Can't keep it at the speed limit (35). By the time Im in 3rd, Im doing 45 in 35.

So, in the normal light to light traffic, I have to live with it.

The programming is for upshifts under moderate/light throttle to occur fairly quickly. This is mainly to improve the EPA mileage ratings.

More throttle or heavier acceleration will delay upshifts - or use of AutoStick will get around that.

Your R/T is extremely close to getting hit with a gas guzzler tax which could end up raising the base price by 1-2k. It makes sense that they did it this way.

Is your other Dodge/Ram a 4 or 5 speed?

I know i can use Autostick and i do most of the time. But you would think a car like this $$$$ would shift. I have a 2011 Dodge Laramie and it shifts great either way.Don
Entirely different model of transmission (from the Challenger / LX cars) and its set up / geared for a different "mission" on the road.

Plus its pulling 1,000# more curb weight plus the payload that truck is designed for.

I wonder why the transmission shifts "like it should" for the first half mile or so first thing in the morning under normal throttle after sitting all night. After that, it becomes the sloppy mess as mentioned. Why did they tease with decent shifts during the warmup?

The main reason I thought about getting a predator was the assumption the shifting would be made "normal". Well..scrap that idea

Heatsoak also has something to do with responsiveness... I see the same thing.. first thing in the morning, it's running great. Later on as engine fully warms up, not as responsive. That part, I believe, is heatsoak for the engine, and can be tempered somewhat by adding a 180 degree thermostat.

The auto will shift "right" as long as you get on the gas from the beginning and stay on the gas as your speed builds. Naturally, you cannot do that everywhere you drive w/o attracting attention (the bad kind), and therein is the catch. If you know you will need to defer vigorous throttle coming out from a stop (for reasons such as turning traction, puddles, or traffic timing), you are better off just holding it in 1st with autostick, and then doing your own upshift to 2nd, as it suits your tastes.

That is designed to get the cats up to operating temp faster - 'Benz cars have been doing the delayed upshift during cold start-up for years.

After the initial warm-up sequence, they go into the closed-loop adaptive mode of operation.
