I'm buying a 1974 Challenger that has been restomoded. It has a 440 engine and 4.11 gears hooked up to a 727 transmission. The rear tires are 275/60/15. I would like to make it more cruise friendly and change the rear gears. What is recommended? I'm thinking 3.23 or 3.55. Any suggestions? Thanks, Murf

Most will say 3.55 is the way to go. Or keep your 4.11 and get the Gear Vendor OD. Also you might want to check your converter stall speed and cam spec as the previous guy might had optimized all the parts to work together. I bet your 440 with 4.11 now gets 10 mpg or less.

3.23 makes a great gear for road driving but won't do as good on the track. If it has the 8 3/4 in it, makes for an easy change!!!!!!!
