How many have passengers that travel with you in your challenger frequently? I am looking at purchasing a Challenger but my kids ages 13, 11 and 7 may not enjoy getting squeezed in?? We have a Ford Expo that we take on long trips and then a charger, but if I get a challenger the charger will go.

I have made one long trip with a passenger in the rear seat, she is an older gal, and had no complaints other than lack of being able to see out. Also my GF has rode in the back (short trips around town) on numerous occasions with no complaints. That said, kids are notorious complainers!

Challengers back seat area is like a giant cave compared to other 2 door muscle cars, but if your worries are about your kids complaining stick with the Charger.

I too have an Expedition.

I put my two boys (15 and 13 year old) in the back of the Challenger. No problem, plenty of space. But 3 kids on a longer trip in the back won't even compare to the Expedition.

We recently drove from Texas to Florida, there was no question we wouldn't take the Expedition for the room and comfort for all. It would be annoying for the rear passengers on a longer trip to have to squeeze in and out of a 2 door car.

For longer trips for 4 people our preference would be Expedition, Camry (since it has 4 doors), and then Challenger.

For two people travelling that order is reversed.

It mostly depends on how far the front seats are moved back. Since I drive with the seat moved rearward as far as possible, there is no legroom in the back.

First of all, how tall are you and your wife(spouse)? If your'e short and sit closer to the wheel then you'll be fine with kids.

I'm 6' even and I leave enough room for a woman around 5'7 to fit behind me comfortably. Any taller a its a no go on long trips.

With 3 kids I'd stick with the Charger

Challenger must have the roomiest back seat in the segment. I've taken several road trips with my kids and their friends in the back seat----ages between 12-17. No problem.

I've had people ride in the back with little to no problems. The first time I had someone in the back there was no room... but the people riding in the front have to realize how much room is up there. The guy in the back was being crushed, but the girl in the front (who's about 5'9 and was wearing 3" heels) had her legs straight out and wasn't touching the top of the floorboard. After moving up (and still having a ton of room in the front for her) everyone was comfortable.

I'm 6'2 and have my seat as back as far as it will go, but can move it up quite a bit and be comfortable. I think the biggest caveat is that all the back passengers probably should enter on the passenger side. The power drivers seat is SLOW moving. The passenger side is manual and flies up quickly. There is an oddity with the passenger side seat I've noticed too if it's in the forward position to let passengers in the back. When pushing the bottom of the seat back first before pushing the seatback back, it will go all the way back, smashing those in the rear. If you push the seatback back first, then push the bottom of the seat second, it goes back to the seat's original position.

Long story short, the Charger is going to be the most comfortable. Just not getting around that. The Challenger I think though has the most back seat room of any coupe I've seen and is pretty comfortable for others. If you really want a coupe and are going to use it on trips, you can't do better than a Challenger.

I'd go with the Charger on a long trip. The Challenger was built using a Charger chassis that was shortened by 3 inches. Those three inches came from rear legroom.

In addition to easier entry, because of four doors, the Charger has large rear side windows that can prevent claustrophobia in the rear seats.

I'm 6'2" and a hefty 300 lbs. I have a 12 year old boy and he says he has plenty of room. When my bosses girlfriend goes to lunch with me and my wife she insists on the "sexy" challenger and has no complaints.

Now when it is just me and the wife, i stretch it out all the way and pull the steering wheel out. I am hidden back behind the back side window almost and I'm still comfortable.

My kids are 11 and 12, and I'm 6ft 290. the kids say they have plenty of leg room, but they have big feet and the foot room is the real limiting factor. The seats are real comfortable and we've gone on in state trips with no issues.

Really though, having 3 people get in through the passenger door, sliding the seat over and over and taking the seat belt off and putting that back on EVERY time we went anywhere was the real annoyance. We had a jeep compass with 4 doors, but once i bought the challenger no one wanted to ride in the compass anymore. :laugh:

So we bought Mom a new Charger R/T to replace the Compass. It makes me happy to drive it compared to that god awful wannabe Jeep, and it makes every one else happy because they all get a tiny bit more room and their own doors. It's much easier for the day-to-day. iI may not be as awesome on the outside, but the heart of a beast still beats under the hood.
