Has anyone installed mufflers to the rear in place of the resonators and just used straight pipe where the factory puts the mufflers? Does it make any difference to do it this way? I'm thinking that the mufflers were placed in the original position from the factory because they have better noise cancelling effectiveness than if they were on the rear of the car?

Why did Dodge have to install mufflers AND resonators? Was it because if they used a higher sound cancelling muffler (to eliminate drone) with no resonator, they would loose the higher exhaust flow? If that is the case, then it seems to me that adding the resonator would equal just having the higher noise cancelling muffler in terms of air flow, no?. My GTO only had mufflers yet there was no drone. Any thoughts? I would ask if this post makes any sense, but I know how the few smarta$$'s we have here would answer.:)
